Here's the problem. When I turn on my computer, it goes to a screen that displays some options like, "Start Windows Normally, Safe Mode, etc." I start Windows normally and it gets to the Windows loading screen. After that, it quickly flashes a blue screen then restarts. It takes me back to the same screen and it's basically just a cycle. I'm running Windows XP. It has a built in System Recovery which is what I want to get to. However, it won't seem to go to it. I can get to the Boot Menu and Setup Options but not the System Recovery. I can't really do anything with the computer. Any suggestions?
When it goes to the screen that displays the options is there an option which says something like "start from last successful startup", if there is try selecting that
Yeah that didn't work. The options it gives are: Safe Mode Safe Mode (WIth Networking) Safe Mode(With Command Prompt) Last Successful Setup Start Normally Something like that. None of those work.
Format, it's obviously something wrong with Windows.
Choose the "Disable Automatic Restart" option, then tell us what the blue screen says when it comes back up.
Why is this dumb? It can be done in the bios setup.
It's not in the bios setup, btw, it's on the same screen as the Safe Mode etc. options.
...it's not on the same screen as safe mode? I can get to the set up once the computer is turned on. I'll try that.
It's not in the bios setup, btw, it's on the same screen as the Safe Mode etc. options.
We want you tot ell us what the BSOD says. You can see that by disabling automatic restart in the bios. ....
It's not in the BIOS, dumbass.
If I press F8 while it's starting up I can get that menu. I'll probably just send it in to get it repaired.
Have you removed any viruses lately? Or done anything with Windows files or big installations? It's an OS issue by the sounds of it so you could try doing a repair with the/a Windows disc...? Ive had this a few times before and that has fixed it for me. Failing that a reformat of your partition will do it. You can backup your files by plugging your hard disc into somebody elses pc (done that a few times before too).
I don't have a Windows CD. I don't even know if our computer came with one.
