I was going to install a new anti virus, so I had to uninstall Norton. I uninstalled it and restarted. I started to install the new anti virus, and in the middle random programs started to shut down. First Sidebar (Didn't even know it was on) then steam, then firefox, then the installer. I restarted and it won't boot vista. I have Ubuntu installed and it booted fine using Ubuntu but when I select "Windows Vista (loader)" it goes to the Microsoft Windows bar but after that it doesn't do anything. I can't think of anything but a virus. I don't blame everything on viruses, but what closes programs almost at the same time then stops booting? I would like some help figuring out how to fix this problem. I don't have my computer right now because I am seeing if CompUSA can fix it, but I don't think they can so I am asking you. I don't remember all the specs but I know I have a intel quad core processer, dual nVidia 8000gts, 4gb of ram, and 64-bit Vista (and Ubuntu). If you need any more explainations then let me know.
Oh and the new anti virus is CA Internet Suite 2009.
This might be the reason why, but Norton requires an un install tool to be used to remove it w/o any problems. I don't know why it would need one, but for some reason it does.
Get the unintall program from Symantec aka. the post above me.
So how can I fix it?

By not using Norton
*faceslap* that would only make sense if you had a time machine.

But to help, get the un-install app.
Norton is good, if you know how to use it. :c00l:
The problem is, can I use the uninstall tool with Ubuntu? If I can't then it is pointless. Windows isn't booting.

What I am wondering is how can I get vista to run so I can fix the Norton problem.
Put the remover tool on a thumb drive and boot windows in safe mode

try repairing windows (ie: repair disc)
Where can i get a repair disc? I did the boot from disk using the disk I bought, but that is the OS install disk.

Is there a non torrent download because the laptop I'm on isn't mine and I can't install bittorrent on it.. Or is the download to big? If it is I am sure I can get permission.
Unfortunately there isn't a non-torrent download.
You could try using this online bittorrent client:
