Good job on not doing any research at all and simply picking the first mouse a random person recommended to you.

i looked at it more and i liked how it has 10 buttons and has changeable weights you can put into it. Plus logitech makes great products. No need to be a jerk about it :(

There are other mouses better than that for cheaper/the same price.
for 40 dollars? show me. I'm still open for suggestions

Just putting it out there, if you wanted a cheaper option. I stll think MX518 though. Why are you against it?

You're obviously attached to the brand of mice you own then because the G500 is a great mouse, comes from a great heritage and there is no reason to assume it's an exception.
G500, Using it now and I love it. Macro button, Frictionless wheel, nylon bound cord, and weights= :awesome:
And from newegg or amazon you get a $15.00 rebate so it's around $40.

I'm attached to Logitech. I simply prefer the G9 as opposed to any other LT mouse I have had experiences with (including the G500). I managed to pick up my G9 for $50, well worth the extra $10.
I'd choose the G500. You can map the third thumb button to act as MOUSE3. For Windows 7, this makes things much, much easier. In fact, I find myself using MOUSE3 as often as the scroll wheel now.
Not to mention, Logitech fixed the problem with their laser mice that was in the G5. Cursor movement when you pick up the mouse with the G500 is now much closer to that of the MX518 than the G5 was. I had to abandon my G5 because of this.
Get a "razer" or a "SteelSeries" mouse if you are into gaming, not some casual ass microsoft "gaming" mouse.

Fuck no.

Very nice $40 mouse. Even has a weight set. your decision on what you get though.
I've also been thinking about buying a new mouse, cause my Steelseries has started to do the doubleklicking for me now (annoying when you use photoshop). Probably going for the G500, love the looks and the reviews only say good things about it.

MX518 is a beast, you must be a retard if you don't want one.
MX518 is a beast, you must be a retard if you don't want one.
Guess all lefties are retards then huh
and I've had enough shitty Logitech products in my lifetime to deter me from purchasing anything with their name on it, guess I'm a retard for that too, right
The build quality is great, sure, but all of the shit I've used (joysticks, mice, etc) have all fallen short and have had some form of annoying issue with them (joystick randomly spazzing out, mouse making my pointer skip around, and related shit). We've had issues with other shit like keyboards randomly breaking and the keys getting changed around or typing more than one key at a time as well. I've used ~4 different Logitech mice and three joysticks. Two were the same and both of them suffered from the same problems after only a month of use, two of the mice had the similar issue of skipping everywhere on my screen, and one of the others ate batteries like they were going out of style. Only one Logitech mouse I've used was actually decent. I only have one Logitech product I still use and it's an old Wingman Extreme Digital 3D joystick and that's pretty much it, and only because I don't have a gameport conversion box for my Sidewinder Precision Pro.
In comparison, I've bought three Razer products and aside from a small issue with my DB (you'd click and the pointer would jump a pixel for some reason) and a lockup bug with my Lachesis (Y axis tends to take a shit once every two weeks or so for like 20 seconds, probably just a firmware bug and it doesn't happen often enough for it to matter a tit) I've had absolutely no qualms with either mouse or my Lycosa keyboard. I used my Diamondback for ~2.5 years and wore the shit out of it but it still works aside from the left click getting hard to press, my Lachesis is three months old and I love it to death, and my Lycosa is about five months old and I've had absolutely no issues whatsoever with it (haven't used the microphone, headphone, or USB ports on it so I wouldn't be able to tell you if they worked properly or not).
Just my two cents. Maybe Logitech makes an exception for their high end shit. I just can't buy shit from a company when I know for a fact their products have been absolute trash for me before.
