Publisher EA has issued a statement in response to the gut-wrenching news that Crysis 2 was leaked online nearly five hours ago. The company says it is “deeply disappointed” over today’s events and was keen to point out the PC leak is not representative of the final build, urging fans to wait it out until March 22.
The full statement is after the break.

Crytek has been alerted that an early incomplete, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites. Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and purchasing the final, polished game on March 22. Crysis 2 is still in development and promises to be the ultimate action blockbuster as the series’ signature Nanosuit lets you be the weapon as you defend NYC from an alien invasion. Piracy continues to damage the PC packaged goods market and the PC development community

Agreed.
See, this is why we can't have nice things.
Damn pirates.
oh well
not like i have the money or computer to run it well
What is with this whole anti pirate movement all of a sudden. A few months ago if you would have said pirating is bad, you would have been ridiculed. Facepunch is weird.
because most of Facepunch has respect for Crytek as a PC developer
When Crysis came out, 90% of facepunch just cried and called it a fancy tech demo.
Honestly, I think they leaked it deliberately in order to have a go at the PC community. "Herp Derp PC gaming is ruined" excuse.
It's going to be a bit annoying because a lot of people are going to base a lot off a more unpolished game.
It's sad because Crysis 2 looks and improves on all of the major shortcomings of the original.
And that Crytek aren't gigantic dickheads to their fan base.
Honestly, I think they leaked it deliberately in order to have a go at the PC community. "Herp Derp PC gaming is ruined" excuse.
I don't think they'd spend all this time and money producing a game to make such a dumb point.

I doubt it, Crytek's boss doesn't like Consoles very much, thinks they're holding back gaming, I don't think they'd leak something that they've spent a shitton of time and effort on to make such a petty statement.
When Crysis came out, 90% of facepunch just cried and called it a fancy tech demo.
But now people see it as a under-rated game.
I'm going to go play some Crysis Wars in a bit now.

Who's to say they would not use it to save on development costs of a sequel (assuming there probably will be one). "Oh look, the PC version of Crysis 2 was leaked early, obviously PC gamers don't want us to spend money on them at all. CRYSIS 3 - Console only. Thanks bye. (Cha-ching)"
But now people see it as a under-rated game.

Because everyone here likes to bandwagon on really stupid points with no sound basis. One person wasn't impressed, "This game is stupid, fancy tech demo, I'm so cool."
"Oh look, that guy is cool, he's right!"
And you have a snowball effect because people care about ratings and will do anything to avoid the bad ones.
Would I be a bad person if I downloaded this just to try to run it on my computer then deleted it and then bought it when it actually came out?
Would I be a bad person if I downloaded this just to try to run it on my computer then deleted it and then bought it when it actually came out?
Nope. You're breaking the law, but you're not exactly breaking the intent. I morally wouldn't feel bad. I don't pirate games anymore though.
Could be it got leaked for the exact opposite reasons, they were mad at EA not letting them make a pc demo.
Would I be a bad person if I downloaded this just to try to run it on my computer then deleted it and then bought it when it actually came out?
Not at all. You're only a thief if you illegally download it, never paying anything for it, and keep it. If you download it, try it, don't like it, and uninstall it, it's fine. If you download it, try it, like it, uninstall it, then righteously purchase it, it's also fine.
This is all speaking morally, anyway.

No, that is a stupid idea. They would just not work with EA anymore after Crysis 2.
When shit like this happens, I can kind of see why some developers get really pissed at piracy.
Wow, way to go EA. Blame the PC community, cus we're totally the ones who leaked it to begin with. It was in internal developer build, meaning it came from someone INSIDE THE COMPANY.
Thats like tossing money on the streets and frowning upon people picking up the bills
See, this is why we can't have nice things.
Damn pirates.
and don't blame the person that leaked? Ok

Crytek after releasing crysis 1 said that they weren't gonna make another PC game because of piracy but they decided to try again and then this shit happens.. Put yourself in their position
On the other hand if someone leaked CoD, noone would give a shit cuz its a shit game + activision is rich
I almost downloaded it, but then I decided just to wait, for Crytek :3:

They never really blame the PC community, they might be disappointed that someone on the inside leaked it.

It's not necessarily as much about the pirates as it is about the original leaker. The pirates are just spreading it around.

OH NO I HAVE A LITTLE 16px REPRESENTATION OF A BOX UNDER MY POST WHATEVER WILL I DO!!!

This is totally the fault of pirates for leaking an internal copy.
Plus you do realise a large number of pirates tend to buy a game if it isn't a piece of shit (Like MW2 for example)
And quite often on cracks it says if you like the game buy it to support the developer.

A large number of FPers are attention seeking kids, believe me they care.
because most of Facepunch has respect for Crytek as a PC developer
No, they're all spineless kids who's opinions change every single day for absolutely no reason.
