I've always been a console gaming peasant wanting to be a PC gamer, finally I'm getting a computer, I'd like to know if it can run most games or not. Can someone who actually knows something about computers help me?

Well then we can't help if you can't tell us the budget. You can get decent builds for under $1000, however.
