• How would one go about jailbreaking a '3rd' gen 8 gig iTouch?

As I'm sure plenty of people know, Blackra1n doesn't work with the updated 8 gig iPod touches, I was pretty pissed when I learned this. I created a custom firmware from a 3.1.2 iTouch 2G, but can't restore it, because iTunes 9 is gay. So, Am I fucked? :downs:

iTunes 9 doesn't like doing custom restores. :/
Do you have backups of your computer. if so recover from /Users/USERNAME/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates from the date before the update.
Tried it before, get an error 1604. I've tried like, everything..
It's called searching.
It'll be fine for those, normal jailbreak, but the "iPod Touch 3G", "Updated 2G", "3.1.1 Preloaded 2G" or "iPod Touch 2.5G", whatever way you want to name it, but Blackra1n will not function correctly and you will stall in restore after seeing the image of GeoHot. GeoHots tweet: "with regards to new ipt2/3 8g support, if your model starts with MB it'll work, if your model starts with MC it won't, and restore required" MC models are the newly released models.
http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=827691
This is why I'm loving my first-gen 8GB ipod touch. ^_^
To what i have researched if your computer can't recover your iPhone then you plug it in to another computer and it would re-install the OS and fix the problem, and then you can get the apps back from your old computer by re-downloading them again, and if that doesn't work go to the iTunes store and select buy app, BUT it would be free because Apple keeps a record of all apps bought on your account. Best of luck! [editline]08:43PM[/editline] and i guess also if you don't have another computer then another account will work just as well!
