http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-29371113
Apple has responded to claims that its new handsets are prone to bending by saying such damage would be "rare" during normal use. Media outlets across the globe had reported that several iPhone 6 owners had complained of handsets becoming misshapen after being carried in trousers pockets without a case.
They need to stop trying to bend the truth
The people can only be so flexible, Apple.
the iphone 6 can bend
Bend it like [del]Beckham[/del] Apple.
Makes me wonder, of the millions sold how many are actually bent?
I don't know but I'm against homophobia
It's only been a week this will most likely effect everyone over the phones lifetime.
They do this every time when there's a problem with their devices though.
I wonder if "normal use " to them, means never putting it in your pockets.
Not surprised really, who expects them to admit anyway
Honestly, as far as corporate cop outs go, "you're holding it wrong" is pretty hard to beat.
literally holding it wrong
I am curious, are people putting these in their front or back pockets?
I am curious, are people putting these in their front or back pockets?
Supposedly, it happens on either. The phone being pushed against your body and the fabric of your pants is sufficient to bend it over extended periods of time.

Is it company policy or something to blatantly lie the second their products are criticized?
this happened with the ipod nano remember
After about 3 years of use, my SGS2 finally bricked itself on me today. After 3 years of carrying it literally every day in pocket of my pants, without a cover or anything, after dropping it on the floor countless times. If you look at the reflection on the screen, it's practically perfect, not warped in a slightest bit. It's nigh perfect. I don't know why should I hold even more expensive phones to a lower standard.
I wonder if "normal use " to them, means never putting it in your pockets.
It's the same as "normal use" of any Apple product: putting it on an illuminated pedestal (in an airtight glass container) and praying to it a minimum of 16 times daily without ever letting it touch human flesh or anything non-Apple. Didn't they try to make the same excuse back when people were finding that holding them a certain way blocked the antennae?
Supposedly, it happens on either. The phone being pushed against your body and the fabric of your pants is sufficient to bend it over extended periods of time.
I read that it happened from people putting it in their back pocket then sitting on it, too. Tbh if you sit on your phone (any phone, mind you,) you deserve for this to happen. I can't see any other way of this happening unless you sit on it, either. Unless your pants are literally so tight that your phone conforms to the curvature of your leg, this really shouldn't be an issue. And if its really that much of a worry you can get a case on Amazon for like, eight bucks.
Fucking read m8 as the phone, HTC M8 and got pretty confused
Copy paste from previous thread

Reportedly only 30 or so people reported that their iPhone bended who also provided a picture of it. The media appears to make it so every iPhone 6 bends when you just have it in your pocket :v:

The media lives and dies based on ratings and pageviews. It's no surprise they'd want to report about a hot news item, like a defect in Apple devices, even when there was no evidence supporting the story. The industry can be despicable sometimes. That's just how it goes. Integrity takes a backseat to money more often than I'd like.
History repeating, iPhone 4 launch and a handful of users reported that the signal fails just by holding the iPhone in your hand, instantly it was on every news site claiming people should wait for newer iPhone 4 models that fixed this issue But yeah, Apple is a hot topic [editline]25th September 2014[/editline]
but its a feature
They do this every time when there's a problem with their devices though.
Not with every version of the phone. There were a lot of idiots holding the iPhone 4 wrong.
You have to deny it, it's for the investor's sake. As a corporation they need to satisfy the investor first and the customer second.
Eat your heart out, Uri Geller. That's how you bend stuff.
iPhones are overpriced cheap electronics, I thought we've been through this? Much of the r&d goes into advertising, the campaign, and other non-product based stuff. The iPhone isn't as much of a functioning product as it is a statement of status. Similar to beats headphones.
this happened with the ipod nano remember
[t]http://i.imgur.com/dtP5A.jpg[/t] ??? this thing is a chunk of steel
it's not apple's fault, it's just that people have spontaneously developed metalbending
To be honest, i don't have one, but by seeing bending tests i concluded that it just can't happen unless you do something very stupid like putting it in your back pocket or idk trying to see if it really bends. I don't see how it would bend in my front pocket, just can't. Sure, it bends and that sucks, but stuff breaks if you don't take care.
Supposedly, it happens on either. The phone being pushed against your body and the fabric of your pants is sufficient to bend it over extended periods of time.
I can understand some of the bending from sitting (though not excuse when you consider the 5 being more durable), but just in the front pocket is ridiculous.
