Slovakia’s Prime Minister has said that “Islam has no place” in the country – weeks before it takes over the presidency of the EU.
Robert Fico won Slovakia’s premiership for the third time in March, although his leftist-nationalist Smer-Social Democracy party lost its parliamentary majority.
Ahead of the vote, Mr Fico advanced hard-line views about migration and said he would not accept “one single Muslim” migrant into the country – points he reiterated in his first post-election interview this week.
Speaking about migration, he told Slovakian news agency TASR: “When I say something now, maybe it will seem strange, but I’m sorry, Islam has no place in Slovakia.
“I think it is the duty of politicians to talk about these things very clearly and openly.
“I do not wish there were tens of thousands of Muslims.”

He sounds like an idiot.

Sounds eerily reminiscent of Donald Trump. No— there is no way to tell if an Arab migrant is a Christian (the Arab-Christian community is substantial) or Muslim. The fact he even professes his 'intention' to not allow a single "Muslim" makes him a dipshit irrespective of whether his plan is feasible or not.

In his defence be probably just doesn't want any foreigners in Slovakia, frankly if he and his people mostly agree on that point then so be it; not like people from outside the country will care about what he will have to say to begin with.
Though if people are legitimately in need, not helping is a pretty evil thing to do; especially if helping them leads to minimal compromise of your own resource distribution.
Yeah he sound's like an ass, but can you blame him that much? It's not like the migrants are bringing peace and bouquets. Lot's of tensions have risen in other countries, and understandably he doesn't want those tensions in his country.

Yes, yes we can.
Doing the exact opposite of something that causes problems will still cause problems for non-black-and-white issues.

im not saying muslims are bad people but any religion that condones stoning of unbelievers i dont think belongs on this planet. call me racist all you want but thats just my take on it.

Yeah fuck freedom of religion right. He is talking about not allowing a single muslim in so yeah religion sucks but thats obviously not what its about.

Don't a lot of Muslim countries list your religion as part of your ID?

i dont agree that muslims shouldn't be allowed in the country, and i do agree with freedom of religion. but you cant just ignore the fact it allows killing of unbelievers. im not going to defend any religion that accepts that as a normal thing.
why does every country suddenly have to be an american style melting pot? if they don't want to accept other cultures into their country they have every right.
but technically speaking, treating people differently solely because of their race or cultural ethnicities (not not by their actions) would fall under discrimination.
and we have every right to point that out
why does every country suddenly have to be an american style melting pot? if they don't want to accept other cultures into their country they have every right.
What do you mean? A country having the right to ban cultures sounds frighteningly like fascism to me.

so might as well ban all religions, because they all have a subset of ultra-hardcore believers who found something in their book to justify killing people.
how hard is it to only punish offenders and not marginalize entire groups?
next I shall ban Americans from healthcare, because they are fat and will drain our insurance money

Fairly certain Islam is a religion, not a culture.
Fairly certain Islam is a religion, not a culture.
religions in general have deep ties to culture, and vice versa
im not saying muslims are bad people but any religion that condones stoning of unbelievers i dont think belongs on this planet. call me racist all you want but thats just my take on it.
Christianity permits stoning in a countless amount of ways. From worshiping other Gods than Jesus to disobeying your parents— these are ironclad rules mandated in the Christian holy book that "all Christians must follow or they are not real Christians" (in applying the same logic to Islam).
i dont agree that muslims shouldn't be allowed in the country, and i do agree with freedom of religion. but you cant just ignore the fact it allows killing of unbelievers. im not going to defend any religion that accepts that as a normal thing.
One of the texts in the Christian holy scripture that permits stoning: If there be found among you ... that ... hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them ... Then shalt thou ... tone them with stones, till they die. Deuteronomy 17:2-5
It allows the killing of unbelievers as explicitly mandated in the Bible. If we apply the same logic to Christians as we routinely do to Muslims, then the 'moderate' Christians that do not follow that verse are not "true" Christians in any sense.
So you might ask, how come Christian groups don't go around stoning people? They in fact do stone people, in Africa. Give Christians a shitty country ruined by decades of colonization and they will stone people and engage in female genital mutilation. Africa is a prime example of the numerous Christian militias that run rampant in Africa which stone people. The problem is not their religion, the problem is that they are in a third-world country that is not even close to realizing development.
Put a majority group of Christians in a third-world hellhole and it will wind-up exactly the same as— if not worse— than its Islamic third-world counterparts.

This is not about accepting "other cultures" This is about allowing someone to enter your country on the basis of religion. The thing we criticize America for but give Europe a free pass. The thing we criticize Saudi Arabia for but give Europe a free pass.
Fairly certain Islam is a religion, not a culture.
Fairly sure the person I quoted mentioned culture.
Don't a lot of Muslim countries list your religion as part of your ID?
No. At least I don't see any religion when I checked my National ID or Driver's License.

again, im not saying banning a religion from a country is a good thing. yeah if a religion has anything in the book justifying killing, i strongly disagree with it, and therefore will not defend the religion itself, but will defend the moderates of the religion that dont agree with it. also, banning americans from healthcare is completely irrelevant. because that is not encouraging outright murder.
why does every country suddenly have to be an american style melting pot? if they don't want to accept other cultures into their country they have every right.
yeah let's be a secluded homogeneous diversity-hating country

I mean, you're just plain wrong. I don't know any other way to say it. Christianity, unlike Jewdaism and Islam, is 100% non-political.
I mean, you're just plain wrong. I don't know any other way to say it.
That is okay. I will wait until you edit your post now from what I quoted above.
Awesome :)
That is okay.
It's funny to me how you're point revolves around people not having a good grasp of Islam and then you spout about Christianity like an absolute ignoramus. Please, go ahead and talk about Islam if you want, but stop pretending that you know anything about Christianity because you clearly don't know even the most basic tenets.

Calling me an "ignoramus" and someone that is "pretending to know anything about Christianity" does nothing about refuting my central points to argument.
The thing we criticize Saudi Arabia for but give Europe a free pass.
You gotta be joking with me here. Saudi Arabia is one of the countries that gets away with everything.
From supporting wahabism abroad, to executing, beheading and stoning people just because they aren't true muslims or don't follow the culture or disagree with the system and nobody gives a shit.
A line has to be drawn somewhere. Diversity leads to conflict this has been proven again and again.
What do you mean? Where should we draw the line?
You gotta be joking with me here. Saudi Arabia is one of the countries that gets away with everything.
In respect to Iran— they definitely do. But I was referring to criticism to in this subforum not in the real world. It is often brought up here how Saudi bans certain religions.
You gotta be joking with me here. Saudi Arabia is one of the countries that gets away with everything.
But it gets criticized with WORDS, that's horrible. Saudi gets away with far too much shit and not even a slap on the wrist. If anything, EU gets bitch slapped by everyone, both EU itself and foreigners.
