This isnt for me, its for one of my friends who wants to buy a computer.
AMD phenom ii x2 550 3.1 black edition processor
4gbs of ram.
500w psu
asus m3a78-em motherboard
320gb hdd
his radeon hd 6770 1gb
windows 7
Would seem about right. Maybe $350, but that would be pushing it.
Choose a Corsair CX500 for the PSU. I have one, it's lovely.

Sort off. I guess you are buying this pre-build off ebay or something?
In short: Its not bad in general, but pretty shit for gaming non the less.

It was off craigslist. Im going to eventually put a 955 in it, and i have a 1tb external hard drive. I might even throw new ram in there when the time is right.

So you are changing an obsolete 550 for a very very old 955.
I wouldnt really throw money at this if you plan on gaming.

Im not blowing $1000 on a computer like most gamers do now a days. Its a good computer for the price, and its very upgradable. Im not looking to max out crysis and get 100+ fps. Im playing source and global offensive and world of warcraft, thats it.

We're saying that it's not worth it and it's better to save up. Yet you ignore.
When I mean we, I mean everyone who has posted in this thread MINUS you.
No one said it was a waste of money besides you buddy.
You can buy a sketchy CL computer with questionable parts, history and no warranty. Or you can pay a bit more and build your own machine from new parts that have warranties.

Besides the lack of a dedicated GPU, I'd bet it'll probaly outperform the top build.

Seems like this would be a better way to go really.

The HD7560D is a decent IGP and can run Source at medium settings at 1800x1440. The A8-5600K can be swapped out for an A10-5800K for a higher clock and a slightly better HD7660D (384:24:8 vs 256:16:8.)
My A8-5600K has a bunch of overclocking headroom, but unfortunately the stock heatsink is complete shit. It will work a bit better if you replace the horrible thermal compound with some even generic lithium grease.
I priced APU's vs non-apu's while putting together my HTPC and the price came out pretty much the same. IIRC the APU I was comparing with came out to be more expensive.
