The offer will be featured in a full-page ad taken out in the Sunday edition of The Washington Post and the Tuesday edition of USA Today. “What is he hiding?” Flynt asks. “Maybe, now, we’ll find out.” The ad will include a telephone hotline and e-mail tip line where anyone with information on the elusive financial documents can share what they know. Flynt previously offered $1 million in Sept. 2011 to anyone who could produce proof of having had a sexual affair with then-presidential candidate and Texas Gov. Rick Perry. A year prior, he offered the same amount to anyone who could prove they had an extra-marital affair Republican Sen. David Vitter of Lousiania. those anons that hacked Mittens' shit should send the info
those anons that hacked Mittens' shit should send the info
Wasn't the reason they insisted on Bitcoins is because it's far more difficult to track than normal money? Plus they obtained it illegally, so if you read that fine print on the OP pic, the offer is conditional on legit acquisition methods.

and im pretty sure that there'd be some correspondence between the two parties in the case that this deal actually goes through did you seriously think they just email the info and a suitcase fulla money arrives a week later?

The money can still be tracked if the FBI really wanted to, or they could just interrogate Flynt directly; which is why I was under the impression the anons who claim to have gotten the tax returns would be wary of anything other than bitcoins.
This tax thing with Romney is getting stupider and stupider. What the hell are we going to find out when it's revealed? That he's super rich? Oh, did we not know that already?

Oh, did we not know that already?
Nobody should fault Romney for being rich. It is not like he is the only rich guy to be a politician (spoiler, they all are rich). I think the issue with the Tax Returns is that Romney does not want to admit that he pays a lower total tax rate than many people who make much less than him. Why should my family pay the proper amount for a family making more than the maximum tax bracket when Romney makes a thousand times more than we do, and pays a much lower tax rate? It just is not fair. [editline]8th September 2012[/editline] Rich people should pay more taxes than people who are not as rich. It is simple.
And this is Romney's fault because obviously he set the tax rates the way they are, right?
There are a couple things I heard Romney could potentially be hiding. For one, he could be hiding his usage of offshore tax havens. For another, and I'm not so sure about this, but I thought I heard he was doing something illegal with Bain.
And this is Romney's fault because obviously he set the tax rates the way they are, right?
It is not his fault, but the least he can do is admit it. I think he is refusing to admit it because it will give Obama's plan to raise taxes for the rich to credible levels more credit.
And this is Romney's fault because obviously he set the tax rates the way they are, right?
well he is running for President, fixing a problem like this should be one of the first things on his agenda - if he doesn't fix it, he'll continue to benefit unfairly at the expense of many American citizens. it's basically a test of his character.
The fact he is not admitting it is now doing more harm than if he told everyone he pays a 15% tax rate instead of the just 35%.
The fact he is not admitting it is now doing more harm than if he told everyone he pays a 15% tax rate instead of the just 35%.
Isn't the 15% not on income but capital gains or some sort of stock trading tax?
This tax thing with Romney is getting stupider and stupider. What the hell are we going to find out when it's revealed? That he's super rich? Oh, did we not know that already?
Oh god I can't hold all this irony. Its spilling everywhere help. Also we would find out what he is hiding. He is running for pres and not releasing his tax info when asked. That seems hilariously shady to me. And it would cost him the election if people found out he wasn't paying taxes. Thats why.

It's more like the third guy is wearing a suit of armor made of solid gold and covered head to toe in diamonds and the guy pulls off one of the smaller diamonds and gives it to the homeless man, and then the third guy pulls out a jewel crested sword and murders both of them
I hear there's also some theory about the tax return info that could involve Mitt committing voter fraud. Something about saying he was in one state even though he was in another or something, I can't quite remember.
And this is Romney's fault because obviously he set the tax rates the way they are, right?
we're not talking about tax rates we're talking about the actual amount of money paid.
Isn't the 15% not on income but capital gains or some sort of stock trading tax?
That is a ridiculous loophole. Having a low capital gains tax is equivalent to barely taxing the super rich.
And this is Romney's fault because obviously he set the tax rates the way they are, right?
You don't just accidentally or by happenstance pay less taxes and make more money than the middle class in our tax system. No, it's Romney's fault because if he IS paying a lower tax rate, then it proves that he's using offshore accounts and being an all-around slimy scumbag by moving his money around to avoid paying his fair share, through tax loopholes and exploiting the system. It's borderline illegal, but people get away with it because they can afford to. I think that bringing this tax return thing to the forefront tackles a huge issue: the tax avoidance by the rich, which has cost the nation 100$ billion per year. If we have a man doing this, running for president, then that needs to be addressed, and this bullshit thrown infront of the the rabid media to tear apart, and the whole world to see. I mean, really, why not just show them if they aren't going to prove that he's been shitting on the system? We all know that's what it is, and the right is screaming "liberal media! liberal bullshit!" on this, but only because they bloody well know that Romney is using tax havens to avoid paying his proper tax amount. Essentially, I'm saying, quit trying to shield this asshole and his magic underwear from taking responsibility for costing this nation money that it needs. This needed to be addressed ages ago, and I'm glad that it's taking a Republican presidential candidate to finally do it, so it not only stomps out the issue, but stomps out the assholes who profit on it at the expense of the rest of the nation.

It is simple.
I think that is the WRONG way to think about that. Rich people shouldn't pay MORE taxes than everyone. They should pay the SAME taxes... It isn't really fair to say since you earned more or you worked harder or you got lucky enough to get this you have to be taxed higher. If middle class gets taxed 30% then the rich should get taxed 30%. It just doesn't seem fair to say, "Oh you have a million dollars? Okay, we are going to take 60% in taxes now...."
It is perfectly fair.
Rich people shouldn't pay MORE taxes than everyone. They should pay the SAME taxes...
This exists, it's called a flat tax. Of course, the U.S. obviously doesn't utilize that, at least not on income tax. I agree, it seems to make the most sense to me.
This is an exciting turn of events.
Flat taxes are dumb for a variety of reasons that I would normally be too lazy to explain. Here are the short arguments on favor of progressive taxes: 1. The Rich can afford to pay a larger relative portion of their money while still living comfortably. The poor may need a very small amount of their earnings to afford basics. 2. The government needs money, yo 3. I thought there would be more to it but that is literally it. Progressive Taxation allows the government to make enough money without draining the poor or middle class' wealth. A flat tax would either be too high and hurt lower income families, or would be too low and not be enough to cover the cost of governing. It is an extremely simple concept.
