• Northwest Thread V1 - Where the sky cried so much that grunge was invented

Here's to making a trend out of regional chat threads! Honestly, these can get local Facepunchers getting to know each other and talk about upcoming events, so it might as well be embraced. I decided to make one for the Northwest because I fucking love the Northwest. I've been quite a few places around the U.S., but nothing gives me the amazing variety of the Northwest and I'll always proudly consider it my home. I've got quite a bit of praise for my home state of Oregon, but it's all awesome, both visually and culturally. Introducing the states: Washington Where the drivers are even worse than the rain. There's a lot of Idaho between us and you, and I've never really asked if you guys really consider yourselves part of the Northwest, or part of like the Rockies with Wyoming and Colorado or something.[/del] Welcome, brothers! We're also overdue for an insanely huge mega-tsunami any year now, so talk to real, living Northwesterners while you still have the chance!
Oregon is best state
until you get dysentery no but seriously, cultural melting pot and it's great and all that everything minus rednecks
until you get dysentery no but seriously, cultural melting pot and it's great and all that everything minus rednecks
just don't go to southern oregon and it's like the rednecks aren't even there oregon hicks are seriously the worst though, absolutely no reason to fly a confederate battle flag if you're from oregon other than to announce you're a racist [editline]28th February 2013[/editline]
Washington is the best
this is objectively false
this is objectively false
washington has legal weed, the space needle, no income tax, great public transportation, apples, and other cool shit. what does oregon have? a fucking cheese factory and portland which might as well be seattle jr.!
what about the Willamette valley? rednecks up in the woods in albany i legit saw a giant truck with a confederate flag it was prett y hilarious how the south comes to oregon like that
I know they're there in the Willamette Valley too, I'm from Newberg, but it's nowhere near as bad as like Grant's Pass where that's all there is, just straight rednecks
washington has legal weed, the space needle, no income tax, great public transportation, apples, and other cool shit. what does oregon have? a fucking cheese factory and portland which might as well be seattle jr.!
oregon's p cool. Lived here all my life and im starting to get sick of fucking pine trees but its still cool.
maybe try fucking women instead?
Fuck yeah add Montana, atleast the mountainy part of us. Geographically we're Rockies, I guess, but the western little 1/3rd is pretty much just an extended Idaho. I live there right now, and grew up in Oregon (Sherwood, outside of Portland). Fucking loved it and would actually love to move to Portland or Seattle when I get out of here.
Oregon: Where the prices listed in stores are the prices you pay at the register (aka no sales tax bs.) Also you don't even have to pump your own gas.
oregon's p cool. You should def return to the Pacific Northwest though, you get the beautiful scenery while still having other humans to talk to

idk if montana can really rightly be considered pacific northwest from a geographical standpoint. the climate is far too different and the rocky mountains are sorta what separates the northwest from other geographical regions in the east. but a big concern i noticed is that you didn't include b.c. as being pacific northwest. it's not american, but it is certainly part of the pacific northwest by any standard. this is generally what is considered the pacific northwest. idaho barely even fits in there. [editline]1st March 2013[/editline] meh i guess a lot of maps have montana labeled as part as well. just seems a bit out there to include montana due to the separation.
Oh yeah and Go Ducks
Don't you fucking start that shit in here.

It's simply the Northwest, so I included those two, and not B.C., because Canada.
As a former resident of Washington state (and many others), it is the best state ever.
Idahoan here, and I can confirm that we do indeed have more than potato fields here. [sp]not really[/sp]

I'm not saying the climate east of the mountains could be even close to Northwestern, but the weather patterns and flora/fauna are very similar to Idaho and Eastern Washington inside of that green area.

Its only a few miles away and it's very much the same land. [t]http://www.thomryng.com/arcadiaclub/images/Cascadia_CS05m_hi.jpg[/t]
The weather in Washington sucks. And the drivers are pretty bad. I am a washingtonianpuncher
I lived out of a suitcase in a motel in washington in summer '10. spent a lot of the summer walking through the streets of seattle and going on ferries across the pugent sound overall, it was a very pleasant experience.
still though, I specified Northwest and not Pacific Northwest because I can see America getting split into regional threads and including BC would take away the America-ness while also making the region big enough that discussion of local news/events/politics/meet-ups/etc. spread out even more from Montana to southern Oregon to almost southern Alaska. if we pretend I named it "American Northwest Thread V1" would that make it better?
The weather in Washington sucks. And the drivers are pretty bad. I am a washingtonianpuncher
I don't know I kind of like our miserable weather, it makes everything look pretty I think. I like all seasons, but my favorite as always around 6 months away.
still though, I specified Northwest and not Pacific Northwest because I can see America getting split into regional threads and including BC would take away the America-ness while also making the region big enough that discussion of local news/events/politics/meet-ups/etc. spread out even more from Montana to southern Oregon to almost southern Alaska. if we pretend I named it "American Northwest Thread V1" would that make it better?
Fair enough. I feel like I can relate to people in BC more than people in Texas or Kansas, which is why I think national borders are irrelevant, but it would be hard to connect with our Northern friends in person. Either way, I like the way you set up the OP . I'm just glad we have a localized chat thread.
So uhhh. Idaho did this last week [thumb] http://filesmelt.com/dl/blowoutsoonfellowstalker.jpg[/thumb] it was snowing, while it was brown outside.
