Police on Saturday were questioning a man and his brother in connection with the murder of a 26-year-old woman, who allegedly converted from Christianity to Islam, in Ajloun, 70km northwest of Amman. The victim died after receiving several blows to the head with a wooden stick and a rock in a forest in Khirbet Wahadneh on May 1, a senior official source said.“The victim’s father headed to a police station on Thursday evening and turned himself in, declaring that he killed his daughter,” the source told The Jordan Times.
Christianity is a religion of peace.

I'm rather ashamed to say that someone in my extended family was nearly killed for doing the same thing - she converted to Islam to marry a boy from her medical college. Father got so enraged he hired some goons to kill them and my mom is now the,uh... "go between" between the daughter and her mother.
Bloody hell, getting mad enough to kill your own daughter..... that makes you as bad as any other nutter who kills for religion with an added dose of sexist "the woman was my property and now you have stolen her from me" bullshit.
Humans are assholes.

Religion is peace
Religion is peace
The Bible doesn't condone this kind of shit, so it's not the religion's fault some nutters decide to follow it
Imagine if there were no religions in the world how many wars and deaths could have been avoided in some extent:
- The Crusades
- Ottoman empire attacking Europe
- WW2 holocaust
- many Balkan wars
- the list goes on...

Most of these used religion as front for political gains.
Christianity is a religion of peace.
Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius
The Crusades, the IRA, the Klu Klux Klan, the Papal Inquisition, the general attitude of the Spanish in the medieval/renaissance period, the Southern US states existing alone were already ample evidence for this one
This is from Jordan, a country in the middle east. This type of extremism is a regional cultural problem, not one based on any single religion so please stop with the ironic "religion of peace" bs.
You know, the same could be said about assholes. The fact of the matter is, even without religion, assholes will find a way to get what they want.
Case in point: Stalin.

We would have found another reason. Blaming these conflicts on religion alone is not correct. You should blame the actual reason behind them, and the people in power who just happened to be able to use religion as a tool to manipulate the masses
Christianity is a religion of peace.
"religion of peace" is an oxymoron
Castor and Pollux blow me to Bermuda.
Just another case in the long list of crimes involving religion.

No, no it's not
- WW2 holocaust

Wait so you're blaming religion for the Holocaust? Are you implying it is the Jews fault for being religious or something because Nazi Germany wasn't really a very religious state. Religion wasn't very compatible with them because Hitler pretty much was their god. Yes, people like Himmler were phasing in German mysticism and stuff, but that wasn't the cause of the Holocaust.
Religion is stupid.

A sole reason or a handy tool to brainwash the masses, same stuff, people get killed.

Nice way of completely inverting stuff. Like said above it was a tool Hitler used to brainwash the German masses.
:pwn: Don't let this thread get to you man.

That is just a fucked up and sad story

So is Islam, shall we take a look at syria?

Those aren't so great examples
People are right that religion is often used as a cover but so much still is done because of religion, the Taliban and al-Qaeda are completely religious based, so is most genital mutilation and the Christian right in America wanting creationism taught in school and much more
Look whether it's religion or people at the root of these problems, you can't say it's not religions fault at all

So is Islam, shall we take a look at syria?
Well that was started by the people wanting to overthrow Assad, the Islamists came in later for their opportunity to have their part in rebuilding the old Caliphate

The others are legitimate, but the IRA and Sinn Fein were mostly Atheist and many of the old IRA were Marxists. Nationalism and Unionism just became synonymous with Catholic and Protestant because it was the easier way to identify who "them" and "us" were. It was politics wrapped up with religion and ignorance rather than simply religion to blame.
