Have you ever ran out of hard disk space for your steam games but have extra drives that could be used to store them? Did you want to put some of your games on those extra drives? Well now you can!!! Requirements: -Windows Vista or anything newer -Administrator Privliges Basic Idea: what we are going to do is use the mklink command in the command prompt to "mirror" gcf files that are located on other drives, or even on another computer. Steps: 1) Take the gcf(s) or folder that you wish to transfer and move it you your desired location. 2) Open command prompt by going to the start menu, clicking on run, typing cmd and clicking ok. 3) In command prompt, type in: mklink "directoryofsteamapps\nameofgcf.gcf" "directoryofyourtransferedgcf/nameofgcf.gcf" example: mklink "C:\program files\steam\steamapps\garrysmod.gcf" "D:\files\garrysmod.gcf" 5) have fun =D
It's more convenient to just put the whole steamapps folder on another drive and use Junction to link it, that way if/when you reinstall windows you only have to recreate one link.
Or save a little bit of cash and buy one big hdd. :c00l:

I, for one, backed up my Steamapps folder on my 500GB external just in case shit happens. In a time of emergency I can always leech off my friend's computers and still play CS:S without fail

I just keep steam installed on a backup partition and re-run steam.exe after formatting, and it just has to re-install the service. After that, all my games and mods are just as they were before I formatted though.
This is useful for the people that have those SSD's.
God people are being slow, first the 'alt+print scr' and now this.
