BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA A PROCLAMATION At the heart of our country is the emphatic belief that every person has unique and infinite value. We dedicate each April to raising awareness about sexual abuse and recommitting ourselves to fighting it. Women, children, and men have inherent dignity that should never be violated. According to the Department of Justice, on average there are more than 300,000 instances of rape or other sexual assault that afflict our neighbors and loved ones every year. Behind these painful statistics are real people whose lives are profoundly affected, at times shattered, and who are invariably in need of our help, commitment, and protection. As we recognize National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, we are reminded that we all share the responsibility to reduce and ultimately end sexual violence. As a Nation, we must develop meaningful strategies to eliminate these crimes, including increasing awareness of the problem in our communities, creating systems that protect vulnerable groups, and sharing successful prevention strategies. .. NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim April 2017 as National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. I urge all Americans, families, law enforcement, health care providers, community and faith-based organizations, and private organizations to support survivors of sexual assault and work together to prevent these crimes in their communities. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this thirty-first day of March, in the year of our Lord two thousand seventeen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-first.
Timing is poor but this seems like a good idea. Though I don't trust Trump. And we know his track record with women.
It's time to grab sexual assault by the pussy
this isn't an april fools right
grab em by the pussy
"passive aggressive anti-trump comment despite clearly good intent".
On one hand it's a good move and maybe can be seen as an apologetic gesture to his past wrongdoings. On the other, hypocrisy so who knows.
"passive aggressive anti-trump comment despite clearly good intent".
Nice passive aggressiveness comment yourself. Trump doesn't deserve recognition for this until he fucking demonstrates that he's willing to do more than pay lip service to women. The policies he fights for are those that would disadvantage women as a population. I, and I'm sure many others, only see this as a pitiful and vain attempt to save face after the pussy tapes.
I mean normally there'd be nothing wrong with this but it's just so gross coming from him. And there is zero real action in this statement. It only says:
This includes supporting victims, preventing future abuse, and prosecuting offenders to the full extent of the law. I have already directed the Attorney General to create a task force on crime reduction and public safety. This task force will develop strategies to reduce crime and propose new legislation to fill gaps in existing laws.
A mostly unrelated thing that was already in place and no explanation of how it will be applied. You just can't sell the idea of Trump taking this seriously. I would not be surprised if Ivanka wrote it.
What a genuinely nice thing for the President to do.
"passive aggressive anti-trump comment despite clearly good intent".
Do you need a crowbar to pry yourself out from under that rock? This man bragged about sexually assaulting women, laughed about getting away with it, and is a well-established liar and con-artist. There's no sincerity to be found here whatsoever.

People can realize their wrongdoings and change their behavior and thinking. His gross sexual assaults comments were already ten years old by the time we heard them.
People can realize their wrongdoings and change their behavior and thinking. His gross sexual assaults comments were already ten years old by the time we heard them.
you'd think everything else might have changed too
People can realize their wrongdoings and change their behavior and thinking. His gross sexual assaults comments were already ten years old by the time we heard them.
Must be why he still treats women like second-class citizens ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What a genuinely nice thing for the President to do.
A real nice thing to do would be to actually show something like this via policies and not policies that cut down on the rights of some groups like women. Show, don't tell.
People can realize their wrongdoings and change their behavior and thinking. His gross sexual assaults comments were already ten years old by the time we heard them.
If he's changed his thinking then he should release a heartfelt apology for having ever made those comments. The "I've-got-a-gun-to-my-head" speech he gave wasn't enough.
What do you guys think of this month after Trump? Will activists care about this month or ignore it, even after Trump is gone? Does the fact an admitted sexual assaulter proclaimed this month ruin it forever?
A real nice thing to do would be to actually show something like this via policies and not policies that cut down on the rights of some groups like women. Show, don't tell.
Exactly, the statement doesn't actually say anything new that he's going to do to help. But who knows, maybe he has some concrete action planned? http://thehill.com/policy/finance/314991-trump-team-prepares-dramatic-cuts
At the Department of Justice, the blueprint calls for eliminating the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, Violence Against Women Grants and the Legal Services Corporation and for reducing funding for its Civil Rights and its Environment and Natural Resources divisions.

Citation needed
how about trump's fucking mouth for a citation
how about trump's fucking mouth for a citation
How does making the connection that famous people can literally do what he said they can do make him a sexual assaulter? Do you deny that rockstars/celebrities haven't been doing this shit for ages?
How does making the connection that famous people can literally do what he said they can do make him a sexual assaulter? Do you deny that rockstars/celebrities haven't been doing this shit for ages?
Are you trying to justify a disgusting action by saying other people do it so whatever? Yeah, it's shit no matter who does it, but this topic relates to Trump.
Well, he did brag about committing sexual assault and claimed rich/famous people can get away with it. It doesn't seem unfair to criticize his hypocrisy on this subject regardless if it has "good intent".
It's also fair to question just how "good" the intent behind this really is, considering Trump's ongoing campaign to demonize immigrants and Muslims by painting them as rapists. Raising awareness about sexual assault is fantastic, as is coming up with strategies to combat it, but a good cause can turn dark quickly if its true purpose is to act as a pretty public face for an ugly agenda. See: the war on drugs. Getting dangerous drugs off our streets is a great idea, but it was conceived specifically to target and persecute a few specific racial and political demographics, and the impact it has had in the decades since has wreaked havoc on those communities.
How does making the connection that famous people can literally do what he said they can do make him a sexual assaulter? Do you deny that rockstars/celebrities haven't been doing this shit for ages?
It's a shame on our world that individuals holding resources of power are allowed to do injustices upon individuals and groups without proper justice beyond measly short term losses and a slight dent in their precious visage to those who know. Maybe one day people will be given the equal justice for injustices regardless of the power of those who do such, even though it will be an endeavor much like any task to change the world.
What a genuinely nice thing for the President to do.
You can't sincerely be this naive to think that this is one of the sole political actions to be done for the sake of doing it, right? [editline]31st March 2017[/editline]
How does making the connection that famous people can literally do what he said they can do make him a sexual assaulter?
How does making the connection that famous people can literally do what he said they can do make him a sexual assaulter? Do you deny that rockstars/celebrities haven't been doing this shit for ages?
His statement was a bragging point, not social commentary. You're talking as if he was just making a point about what a shame it is that famous people can get away with so much, but he was actually bragging about his sexual conquests. He was talking about the women he had "moved on like a bitch," and talking about how hot the hostess/reporter outside the bus was, and how she would let him do anything to her. He said that when he meets attractive women he "just starts kissing them," and they let him do anything he wants to because he's rich and famous -- he can even just "grab them by the pussy."
"passive aggressive anti-trump comment despite clearly good intent".
This post is way more passive aggressive than the posts its dogging.
He should form an anti-rape coalition with Bill Cosby and Roman Polanski.
"passive aggressive anti-trump comment despite clearly good intent".
It's like Bill Clinton dedicating april to being "faithful to your wife" month though.
