Russia Today will say anything, true or not, to make the west look bad
RT is the same "news" agency that reports an imminent US invasion of Iran or Syria about every other week.
The only reason this is being broadcast is to brainwash their population into hating America and preparing their new generation for a war against us.
God bless America.
Russia Today will say anything, true or not, to make the west look bad
It's still kind of true, though.
That's nothing, I've heard that every day, people in the USA spend 52 bajllion dollars on gumballs.
i trust rt more than cnn tbh
although i hardly trust either at least rt provides an alternative to the corporate propoganda.
hey guys, we got a lot of issues going on. So more more xmas cheer, RT needs to fuck off and stop trying to guilt people.
Well of course the money spent on Christmas decor from the entire country could provide housing for some homeless. But locally I doubt any amount of cash spent by people would do any help in the long run.
How DARE people spend their hard earned money on things that they enjoy!
This is a false conundrum, money has its use and people can use it on whatever the fuck they want in the confines of the law, it is then recycled back into the economy and keeps capitalism going allowing people to be paid for their hard work. If it wasn't going to be spent on "Christmas crap" it would have been spent on something else, probably just as trivial, and would NOT be going to ending homelessness or whatever cause people are pushing at the moment.
This is the same argument people use to defund NASA.
This report is absolutely shameful.

~wake up sheeple yolo swag #2012~
Our electric Bills could also end it, So could our water bills, or our food expenditures, or everyone giving up a quarter of their paycheck
So what?

capitalism doesn't work.
anyways, it just shows how much we prioritize decorations over humanity. that's the point of this video. it's saying "hey, look at how easily we could end homelessness if we actually allocated resources to it".

Meanwhile all the democratic capitalistic societies on the earth have the highest standards of living
Totally not working

yea because 0.1% of the population controlling 40% of the resources of the country is totally optimal.
Hey look the "starving kids in africa" argument.
I could spend money on steam games, or I could donate it to kids in africa.
That's rather silly. Not all disposeable income needs to be donated to charities or whatever.
My brothers gf works with section 8 housing. These people get a free home and just sit on their asses all day. Not all, but a majority. And many have found ways to cheat the system where they will rent an apartment, not pay rent for months and then get kicked out just in time to have another friend get a place and repeat the cycle.
yea because 0.1% of the population controlling 40% of the resources of the country is totally optimal.
Instead we should get rid of all the resources and switch to those systems that work
Like all those african dictatorships
Am I right?

because stating wealth inequality is bad totally means i am advocating a switch to a system with inherent wealth inequality
btw the "golden age" of capitalism during the industrial revolution was really a great time to be alive, wasn't it?

It was a better time than before it.
Could you now tell us how capitalism "Doesn't work"?

well it certainly works if you consider having a minority of the people in control of a majority of the resources, leaving most people in relative poverty.
it's great if you associate success with how well you can manipulate the system versus how much value you create in the world.
capitalism is awesome if you believe human beings should not be able to determine their own path through life or elect their own leaders.
but if you believe in the self-determination of a human being, the right of the person to be in control of their life without dependence on government or wealth owners, and the ability to succeed and be re-enumerated based on your own merit, then socialist libertarianism is a far better ideology to capitalism and corporatism.

Could you give an example of how socialist libertarianism works better than capitalism? Actually... can you list one example of it ever working?
Could you give an example of how socialist libertarianism works better than capitalism? Actually... can you list one example of it ever working?
socialist libertarianism works better because it works to ensure that the means of production are held by the workers themselves. people are able to choose their bosses and be paid based on what they make without having most of it stolen by profiteers.
also revolutionary catalonia, revolutionary aragon, and the free territory of the ukraine took a lot of queues from libertarian/anarchist socialism and had relative success. there are also plenty of successful worker-cooperatives that involve workers directly electing the management. even therapy for sexual abuse, alcoholism, and mental illness often involves one of the key concepts of libertarian socialism, which is mutual aid.
we make use of various ideas that stem from socialist ideology in spite of a capitalist economic system.

So 3 failed territories which were part of, consumed by, or results of civil wars. All of them in extenuating circumstances that lasted hardly a flash in the pan.
Could you tell me how such a system works, while capitalism doesn't? Capitalist states number plenty, and they've been around longer than less than half a decade. They also aren't marked by a specific affiliation with bloody civil war.

you take a very darwinist approach to society. just because capitalism is more common, doesn't make it better. remember that monarchy and feudalism were once very prevalent.
the fact that an oppressive government that had significantly more martial power was able to crush a revolution does not mean that the revolution should not or cannot happen. might does not make right.

Yet standards of living do
How accomplished have these libertarian ideals been? Where is their great benefit? How many times did their society 'work'?
0. None. Zip and nada. You can get theoretical on me all you want, but there's a reason every country in the world isn't communistic, or socialistic, or libertarian.

well by that logic no capitalist societies "worked" because every capitalist society will eventually end.
there is no permanent society you can only look at what was accomplished during the society's lifetime.
cash spent on toilet paper world wide could solve world hunger and give housing for every vagrant and all of you shameless people spend it literally wiping your ass
shame on you
double shame if you're the kind of monster who buys WET WIPES

I'm speaking only in practical manners. Capitalistic societies have worked for generations. We'll find something better someday, maybe and sure. Your proposed societies? Transient.
Capitalism also made South Korea really prosperous and globally cultured.
