I've got a basic file server at the moment:
Specs:
C2D e6300 1.86ghz
1gb DDR2 800mhz
Asus P5N73-AM Mobo
~250gb & 80gb HDD
What I'd like to know if it's worth replacing the e6300 with a Celeron dual core e1400 (2ghz) that I acquired recently, I'd assume not as it's a less efficient/inferior architecture and whatnot due to it being a celeron.
Also does anyone know much about overclocking on this motherboard, I recieved it from a friend and have no manual, but i'm fairly sure it has a Jumper somewhere for overclocking. I'll be damned if I know where though.
Thanks
I think Core 2 Duos are in general better than Celerons, even with the 0.14 Ghz difference. I doubt there would be a performance increase, and if there would be it would not be worth the hour or so of your time swapping out CPUs.
For a basic file server, you wont get much better performance with the upgrade
Alright thanks guys, I'll pass the Celeron onto a more needy owner then.
