What is your favourite cult movie? Mine is without a doubt The Warriors. Not to big on the whole remake thing because nothing could come close too this movie!
Buffalo '66. I really enjoy the feel of the movie, the colors and tones just set the mood of the whole thing. Plus, it's a pretty quirky movie :p
Pootie Tang. >.<
Rocky Horror Picture Show, Probably my favorite movie as well. I'd say Pulp Fiction counts as a cult film.
Rocky Horror Picture Show, Probably my favorite movie as well. The Warriors. Repo The Genetic opera (I know it hasn't been around long but consider it a cult film.)
repomen was balls, the twist ruined it. unless you're talking about a different movie. ok, it's a spinoff type thing, still. My opinion about it stands.
evil dead 2 > all
The Taxi films can be considered cult outside of France.
Also Dead Snow! Goddamn it was incredible.
evil dead 2 > all
Anyone who disagrees has a date with my boomstick.
The Mad Max films.

also critically acclaimed and widely known

I didn't forget you Dude. Most cult films have a deeper thing behind them, I didn't really like TBL on my first watch but I've grown to love it. As ridiculous as Fear and Loathing it was a fun watch and it's based on a guys biography, so true events there. Just realised up close the patterns make him look wonky eyed :v:
the dude abides.
I didn't forget you Dude. Most cult films have a deeper thing behind them,
Which TBL defiantly has.
HOLY SHIT, IN HIS GLASSES IS THAT THE PATTERN OF THE RUG? Oh snap I think it is. Or it's meant to resemble it atleast.
My favorites are: Donnie Darko- Just a great movie, really makes you think. Ink- Not very well known, but amazing. Beware of shitloads of bloom. Dark City- Saw this the other day, a fucking weird movie. Seriously.
"They peed on my rug!" "They peed on your fucking rug..."
What the.. Mad Max, Pulp Fiction, The Blues Brothers, Donnie Darko? Eh no offence but I wouldn't really consider those cult films, though I recognize there are different opinions on what cult status actually is. For example I personally don't really consider Blade Runner to be a cult film, its just too finely orchestrated (for lack of better term). Everything from the music, acting, story, costumes, its all just too good. To be more correct about it I think its a film that at one point was considered a cult film but ended up losing cult status due to popularity. Cult films are supposed to have a sort of niche group of followers, every sci-fi geek loves and swears by Blade Runner. Its not really niche enough in my opinion. The age of the film can also play a huge role too. Another example is Donnie Darko. At first it was one of those films that nobody really heard of, then it just exploded in popularity. Now everyone and their grandmother has seen it. Had cult status, but shortly after release lost it. Just my thoughts, I'm sure everyone has a bit of a different idea of what a cult film really is. In my opinion these are examples of cult films (and some of my favourites) - What defines cult films for you?
I'm not really a fan of the term Cult Film though, I think it's just a reason to be pretentious.
