These are my Specs:

My GPU is a HD5770
All my games that run on the source engine used to run fine before, now i get very low fps on these games i even reformat my pc and installed win7 again with the latest drivers etc and even in sc2 i get very low fps which makes the gameplay stuttering etc and i used to run sc2 with everything to max without any problems.
I googled everywhere but i couldnt find the problem which is causing this my cpu temp is 63 degrees which doesnt do anything becaue it used to run like that before to and then i had no lag(Im going to buy a new thermal compound or even a better cooler since i run with a stock cooler)
One thing that is very odd is that Bc2 and Blops runs fine without any lags whatsoever.
Check for overheating on your GPU and CPU.
Catalyst controll centre and Furmark for your gpu and HW monitor and Prime 95 for your cpu.
Let both run for 10 minutes (seperate) and post the results.
Catalyst Control Center GPUheat:39 degrees on load from games.
FurMark Resulst: Fullscreen 1920x1200 2xMSAA Burn in test max degree 57 Degrees
Prime95 Resulst: Max Temp 80Degrees
When not in use cpu temp is 63 degrees.

Seems fine. Does your cpu reach 100% when playing sc2? And check if you have some kind of energy saving feature on.
Check your GPU for dust. I had terrible FPS loss when I had lots of dust in my PC. My screen also turned pink.
No my cpu doesn't reach 100% its alway jumping from 45% to 63% but never to 100% when i play games.
Idk if its my ram because sometimes tf2 uses 3GB and most games with my programs in background use up about 2,75GB of 4GB. Also i reinstalled tf2 not by deleting the tf2 folder because i already tried that so i redownloaded TF2 but there was no change whatsoever its seems that the fps is about 53 most times which is not playable in my eyes.
Gpu =! Cpu.
To make it clear i cleaned my Pc from all dust about 3 months ago with compressed air i carefully removed all dust.

Read above his temps are fine.
Op: 53 fps is more then enough?
Not imo its very sluggish to me and 53 fps is max fps i get its also the numbers that stay like that mostly when nothing happens in tf2 when lots of stuff is going on it goes down to 35fps for me its really odd since i played this game before and i had about over 110 fps most times and when action went on i had 90fps min.
bump.
80C is not good for a CPU
do you have a gigantic clump of dust on it or not enough thermal paste or something? set your fan to 100% if nothing else.
Its was on 80C when i ran the Prime95 test to the max if you can read.
Also i told before that i cleaned my pc from dust and the thermal compound is enough on it and the fan speed is set to Performance which is maximum fan speed also when i play highest Degree is 63C.
But im still not sure if it is the temps that give me bad fps.
Either ways thanks that you tried helping me.

Its not very bad either. And wont cause the CPU to downthrottle which could cause the FPS drop.
Regardless, I don't think TF2 will ever run at 60fps constantly anymore...
Valve just pile shit on top of everything and then don't optimize it
Maybe its just my pc getting to old although its very odd that im able to play BC2 on max without any lag,
A friend of mine has the same gpu but he has a i5 760 and he has no fps issues so it has something to do with my pc and not the game.
I have the same problem as you. Except I have a 4890.
Reinstalled windows and to my surprise my max fps in source games was about 50, when it was 300+ before.
Multiple reinstalls of graphics drivers (and different versions) helped a tiny but, but did not fully solve the problem.
Im right now trying again and reinstall Win7.
Format Hard drive and install fresh drivers.
Be sure you have your CPU & GPU drivers up to date.

Please let me know if it worked.
So i reinstalled Win7 Pro x64 with the latest drivers i also updated the bios, and i still have about 45 fps in tf2 which is unplayble in my eyes and sc2 has the same fps.
It seems the only way is either a new pc or it is something else which i cant figure out what it could be.
I would like to have 90Fps in tf2 again when action is going on which is real smooth and that way i could be so much better in the game again for now it seems the only Games that run normal are all the WH40K DoW (2)series and BC2 and Blops and some other non source engine games, i hope that at least Portal 2 runs fine.
Is v-sync on?
never
Any standard setting not set to application controlled in CCC? And check ur clocks while ur there.
I believe we have very similar if not the same problem. I'll let you know if I find anything.
not my thread but @ taipan:
Tried with app controlled and without app control.
you can post here and use this thread as well because it seems like we have the same problem.
Odd how I get 10fps in an online garrys mod server and I get very playable frame rates with max settings 1920x1080 playing Crysis 2 demo.
Same here i can play BC2 maxed out without any lag.
I had the exact same problem with my ATI Radeon HD 5770. My highest framerate in TF2 was 50, when I used to get 300+ . I solved the problem, but I can't remember how. :saddowns:
Check the CCC to see if you have AA or MSAA (Adaptive AA) forced on .
