Pretty mediocre list that has obvious joke armors lined up along actual examples of stupid armor, plus some that are actually completely reasonable. Ultima VIII's Avatar is merely wearing a completely reasonable greathelm, tabard, and chainmail, which are things I honestly think more characters should wear.
I'll never take helmets that fully cover your eyes seriously, unless they have Iron Man/scifi inner visor stuff or something. [t]https://i.imgur.com/9vm5g8t.jpg[/t] Shit's ridiculous.
I love how the write-up on Caesar's Legion in New Vegas pretty much just praises it for being practical and a nice post-apocalyptic take on actual early Roman armour, and it only critiques the faction itself...
[t]http://i.imgur.com/fCvWLwN.jpg[/t] try and beat this
This is clearly the best gear of any game, stop trolling
Yeah, this list was pretty bad. Some of the armor was legit awful but the G&G, Ultima 8 and Mass Effect examples are perfectly fine.
Horse armor?

I went the entire game with this stupid pawn armor because I couldn't find anything better stats wise. Hope they don't redo this if Dragon's Dogma 2 ever happens.
try and beat this
the "okay guys I just dinged 70 can I join you for some heroics" starter pack. Every fresh 70 in the TBC days looked like this :v:

Any version of Subligar on Tarutaru (in FFXI) or Lalafell (in FFXIV). Just, no.

I really don't understand their problem with the avatar armor. It is abnormally appropriate.
Yeah this list is stupid. I really don't understand their problem with the avatar armor. It is abnormally appropriate.
Due to the way it's rendered, it looks ridiculous. It's unclear that it's chainmail covered by cloth and not just a red sweater, and you have to have a basic knowledge of how armour is worn to realize it is not. You gotta remember that there's two authors on this article, one idiot from PC-gamer who compiled a massively lackluster list, and one professional armour-maker who comments on said list. The professional's only comment was that it has a Monty Python look about it. Which it absolutely does.
Maybe it's just me but I never understood Starbound's "add more red glowing eyes" meme
Did they really list the Malkavian clothes from VTM as a fucking example? You're playing an utterly mental vampire, of course you're going to dress wackily. It's not even armor, in-universe. It's just clothing. The physical boosts you get from them are incredibly mild and meant to represent wearing extra, thicker layers rather than donning SWAT armor or whatever. You can actually get an armor vest for all characters later in the game and it hampers your agility. [editline]20th February 2018[/editline] Plus, vampires in VTM lore can tank anything shy of .50AE pretty easily.
I love how the write-up on Caesar's Legion in New Vegas pretty much just praises it for being practical and a nice post-apocalyptic take on actual early Roman armour, and it only critiques the faction itself...
"practical" when its really just a bunch of football pads going up against actual guns and actual body armor.
"practical" when its really just a bunch of football pads going up against actual guns and actual body armor.
Reinforced with metal plates, yes. Also, it's lightweight designs, which is great for an army that's mostly raiding and constantly on the move, without permanent garrisons or patrol routes like the NCR. Also-also, you gotta remember that the NCR in the Mojave is an exception to the rule when it comes to who the Legion fights. They're mostly going against other raider-bands and tribal like the Khans, White-Legs and other Zionite groups. Against these users of bladed and blunt weapons, I'm almost certain it does a whole lot of good.
I'd put XCOM 2's Anarchys Children up there. I defend the DLC on the principle that it is highly detailed stuff and has had a fair bit of effort put into it, but christ did they read the community wrong with that one, most people don't wanna turn their charecters into mad max rejects. Likewise the Alien Hunters armour.
All pieces of armor in TERA (for female characters at least)
remember this ?
Maybe it's just me but I never understood Starbound's "add more red glowing eyes" meme
Is that what it was then, I thought they just made the nipples glow too, to make them look more intimidating. :v: I mean, you'd not want to fuck with a guy that had glowing nipples.
All pieces of armor in TERA (for female characters at least)
what armor?
remember this ?
I mean, against blunt weapons these'd be kinda shit, but sharp weapons wouldn't stand a chance. But if you're shooting people then that wood would need to be Australian Buloke.
Maybe it's just me but I never understood Starbound's "add more red glowing eyes" meme
I unironically loved this and was very disappointed that the final tier went down in eye count.
I'll never take helmets that fully cover your eyes seriously, unless they have Iron Man/scifi inner visor stuff or something.
This has always been my guilty pleasure when it comes to fantasy armor.
