nononononononono stahp.
meh I probably wasn't going to buy an EA game this year anyways.
edit: This thread is 4 hours late.
Great i've alays been hitching for cheat weapons for 10$ & beaituful recolors for 15$. Ty EA ur the best.
Money sacks would have been a more fitting image the way EA's going imho.
They are getting greedy more and more really fast.
Oh boy, that guy has an extremely good sniper. Damn he's getting some easy shots on me. I think I might go and buy that sniper for $5 now instead of spending many hours of work to get it.
:c
It's okay, EA. I haven't bought any of your games in 4 years and the only games I bought in the last 8 I've spent less than $50 for all of them together. Hopefully it'll finally go bust and we can see some real competition in the market take it's place. It's funny how when a business doesn't please it's customers it doesn't make money.
First Blockbuster, Next EA
EA has completely stopped giving a fuck if they drive customers away anymore.
Its sad that people end up using their shit...
they need to realize the reason people are buying their games isn't because of the microtransactions, it's because there's still a fun game under all of the shit they pile on. If they put so much shit on the game, then it'll be harder for people to have fun playing it, and they'll stop buying them.
I don't see how allowing someone to pay a little extra money to unlock a weapon or something could be a good thing. Back when i first got into games, you had to devote hours or a shitload of work into unlocking certain things(beating torture scene in MGS, thumbs still hurt, but you got the infinity bandana). Now, you have the option of paying to have things handed to you on a silver platter. Nothing satisfying about having items or equipment given to you for minimal work. For instance, getting the Megabuster in Dead Rising was HELL, but worth it in the end and extremely satisfying. In TF2 for instance, that feeling when you find something or craft something you've really wanted for a long time, but you could just buy it on the store, and not have the satisfaction of achieving. All in all, im stating the obvious here, but i can't help but state it.
I seriously don't understand micro transactions that aren't only cosmetic in games where you already have to pay to play.
I honestly would rather see more OP Pay2Win guns in APB Reloaded since it's a free game.
There's one way to stop them from doing this, stop buying their shit. Everyone bitched about how they dumbed down Dead Space 3 and it was a terrible PC port, yet everyone went out and bought it.
People are going to do the same thing with Battlefield, bitch about how it's been dumbed down, how it lacks modding/mapping support, how ARMA is better yet pretty much everyone will still buy it.
Micro transactions in a paid game that actually give a player an advantage are fucking terrible.
*brain explode out of disgust*
Who said I wanted to invest with you anyways?
EA don't realize they aren't loosing money because they are shifting their spectrum on the market from hardcore gamers to the other side ti the casuals, it's going to create losses sooner or later with their hard core games.
I don't understand how EA are planning their business strategies by making their customers hating them. Don't they have any plans of what will happen when they lose the majority of the consumer base? And when that happens so will the game developners they present, and later on going to leave them due to economic loss.
Fortunately the company is dying slowly, just wait guys.
This was said in the other thread, but it still stands: While this idea is severely hated here on Facepunch and on various other forums, sadly there are people who honestly feel this is a great idea. Kids with too much allowance/parents credit card, nerdy classmate/co-worker who feels buying this stuff is the only way to stay level, "casual" gamers. These people exist and there apparently are enough of them(as well as people who probably act like they oppose this to seem "cool" ) that this is happening.
Not buying from EA isn't going to be a solution for long, as there are millions who don't see this as a problem. And since a majority of the industry just copies from whoever is on top/are mindless sheep, we will probably end up seeing microtransactions in stuff from most of our other favorite companies. Both game ruining early and overpowered unlocks for multiplayer AND shit gimped/cut from single player and monetized on in addition to "paid DLC".
EDIT: I cant wait until Tuesday to hear how at the last second they stapled microtransactions on to the new Simcity. Maybe it will be something "cute" like "currency exchange! $10 = 10,000 simoliens!" or something to that effect.
Wow, what a way to run a railroad...
