Maybe, you have to apply to be buried in Arlington and it's usually a long process.

seems odd to off yourself at that age, not like you much time left anyway.

Suicide has no barriers. It's odd, to be sure, but if people really want to kill themselves for any reason, they usually go ahead with the attempt. Age is no real bar for the most part.

That's probably why he did it. No sense waiting around, I guess.

Age is most definitely a real factor; the elderly are at a relatively high risk for suicide, statistically speaking.

Metal Gear Solid aka emotional trauma simulator.
Bummer about the vet who shot himself too.
My grand-grandmother was like 95 years old, and she was crying that she just wants to die.
It was just horrible for her that she wasnt able to do anything on her own anymore.
Thats probably why this guy killed himself too.
Yeah same with mine, really stuck in my mind since she was begging to die in the hospital.

Elderly and young males are at an increased risk for suicide.

Interesting fact regarding gender differences on suicide: females are more likely to attempt suicide, while males are more likely to succeed in suicide.

It probably lies in how they attempt suicide.
Women would most likely use pills, while males would just blow their brains out
The shooting took place at the Columbarium Courts, which contains the remains of 50 victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attack on the Pentagon. It overlooks the west side of the Pentagon, where hijackers crashed an airliner into the U.S. Department of Defense headquarters.
The only thing I can think of is what was going through his head in his final moments.

Probably a bullet
seems odd to off yourself at that age, not like you much time left anyway.
suicide is actually really common among the elderly. when you lose your ability to care for yourself and live independently you quickly lose your enthusiasm for applesauce + pill mixtures and pissing into a catheter bag.
Depressing.
Also, Metal Gear Solid 4 keeps becoming more real and real this year. Damn it, Kojima.

too soon
edit: not too soon

It is true that males are prone to more 'hands-on'. aggressive methods of suicide-- whereas females care more for how they look when they die and want to go in a more peaceful fashion.
I remember how it felt when I killed myself.
May this man finally have peace now.

You do know you can kill yourself and be revived if you don't do it right.

Or if you kill yourself by accident. It's a bitch either way, overdosing on pills is in no way peaceful. Maybe it depends on what you take, but that can be one of the most intense and painful things to go through..
How did he sneak a gun into Arlington Cemetery? When I went there the guards were on your ass 24/7.

He's 92. They probably didn't expect him todo anything.

Really? When I was there, I barely saw any guards. Just a few by the Kennedy sites and other notable graves.
