Yeah because it's really going to be an issue that googling "piratebay" returns result 5 as piratebay.org instead of result 1-2. Golly gee. What kind of dingus searches "game of thrones season 11 torrent" on google anyway? Most people who are smart enough to pirate content aren't doing that. All this is going to do is expose the ignorant to even more malware than they already are as they click shady af links to obscure sites where they're asked to download "game of thrones season 11.exe".
The proper thing to do would be to take key strings like "game of thrones" and "torrent" and put the first few results as legal alternatives for their country but otherwise not mess with the result order because it'll just promote these obscure, low traffic or freshly created "pirate" sites that no one uses or has maybe ever even clicked into the top results where they'll fuck people over.
Generally the kinds of people who are looking for content for free either can't or won't pay for it anyway so it won't do much anyway. And we're not here to debate the morality and causes of piracy so I won't get into that more than I already am here. My proposed solution would be the better alternative because it doesn't put anyone anymore at risk than they already were and if we're going with the idea that people are more likely to click top results this serves to direct more people toward the legal alternatives for whatever they're wanting.

In some countries there are simply no legal methods to obtain certain content, at all. Before HBO Nordic opened up, there was no way I could watch Game of Thrones outside of streaming/torrenting it, unless I wanted to spend a exorbitant amount of money to try to circumvent the system.
Also media which is no longer in production / available for streaming can be stupidly expensive. Last year I wanted to watch a pretty obscure french movie from the 80s. I had two alternatives, either to torrent it(There was one active torrent) or spend $200(+ shipping on top) on a used VHS copy on Amazon.
Make movies/tv shows etc. more readily accessible and available on platforms such as Netflix and I'll bet you'll see a reduction in the amount of torrents for your shows. But every content producer is releasing their own streaming platform charging $15-30 a month and I think that's pretty unreasonable.

Exactly, so if there are no alternatives then there's no point further obscuring content from people. All it does is make everyone's internet experience more insecure if we remove the "safe" pirate links.
oh no I guess I'll just save myself two seconds of scrolling by typing it without spaces and by adding a .whatever to the end next time I visit the pirate bay
I mean this doesn't actually affect me because I don't pirate anymore but what a stupid feelgood solution that does nothing
They already do. DuckDuckGo is the only major search engine that doesn't at this point.

Hopefully this doesn't count as encouraging Warez or anything but if it does, mods just please remove the image I'm trying to contribute to a conversation here
Unless you're talking about it in the UK, Pirate Bay is still number one here in the US.

Even the Wikipedia article is fifth, under the various proxy lists and the subreddit.

Actually it's even simpler than that. Most people just google "show_name + sXXeYY + watch online" and the first result does the trick.
