A Chinese daredevil took death defying to the extreme when he slipped off of a highwire 650 feet above a gorge — and walked away with only minor injuries.
Aisikaier Wubulikasimu was walking backwards and blindfolded without a harness Sunday when he had about 131 feet left of a nearly 2,300-foot walk, BBC News reported.
At that point, after more than 50 minutes of walking and with just a pole helping him to keep balance, Aisikaier felt faint and was thrown off by the wind, according to China Central Television.
That’s when he fell.

Aisikaier was walking about 650 feet above a ravine in China's Hunan province.
Onlookers reportedly gasped. But because Aisikaier plunged closer to the end of the wire, the slip was not as steep — about 132 feet.
Dramatic video of his near-deadly drop shows him moments later, walking out of a brush-filled area in China’s Hunan province.
Had he finished the highwire act, he would have become the first person in the world to accomplish such a feat, China Central Television said.

Aisikaier was near the end of a 2,300-foot walk when he felt faint and the wind caused him to fall off, according to reports.
Still, Aisikaier, a sixth-generation acrobat and tightrope walker, is no stranger to breaking records.
He’s in the Guinness World Records for fastest tightrope walk over 100 meters, which he set at 44.63 seconds in 2009.
It was unclear if he planned to attempt this latest stunt again.

Fuck me. So much nope in this one.
At least he didn't die.
I don't think he was aware of the gravity of the situaton
well I guess we could say he took the fall for that one
I guess you could say a man fell off a tightrope
How the fuck do you fall 200 metres into water and survive?
The article clearly says he fell 40 meters. The title is wrong and stupid.
Also, he didn't fall into water, he fell into a couple of bushes.

I bet an accomplished diver could do it. Your body has a terminal velocity, and with the right form you could probably cut your resistance with the water enough to survive, although I would imagine you'd still break some bones or suffer internal bruising from the rapid deceleration.
Aisikaier Wubulikasimu is quite a name. Good to see he survived relatively unscathed, though.
Holy shit, when he caught himself at the beginning, that must take some serious core strength and balance. Well, fuck, the whole thing must take that but that part was seriously impressive.

Enter feet first and prepare for serious pain to your legs. Clench your ass and place your hands over your groin to protect it.
The first one there most people expect. The second two are pretty easily forgotten. Failing to clench properly could actually cause major internal damage and kill you shortly after landing, even if you are still structurally intact.
Landing at anything approaching terminal velocity for humans is a whole different ballgame than what divers are used to.

For some reason I find this hilarious.
