• Nasa may have accidentally created a Warp field with the EmDrive engine
http://mysteriousuniverse.org/2015/04/nasa-may-have-accidentally-developed-a-warp-drive/

Meanwhile, in the lab, NASA and other space programs were working on prototypes of the EmDrive or RF resonant cavity thruster invented by British aerospace engineer Roger J. Shawyer. This propulsion device uses a magnetron to produce microwaves for thrust, has no moving parts and needs no reaction mass for fuel. In 2014, Johnson Space Center claimed to have developed its own low-power EmDrive. Which brings us to today’s warp field buzz. Posts on NASASpaceFlight.com, a website devoted to the engineering side of space news, say that NASA has a tool to measure variances in the path-time of light. When lasers were fired through the EmDrive’s resonance chamber, it measured significant variances and, more importantly, found that some of the beams appeared to travel faster than the speed of light. If that’s true, it would mean that the EmDrive is producing a warp field or bubble. Here’s a comment from a space forum following the tests.
Holy Jesus if this is real... Here is a link to the NASA forum where they were discussing it
http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=36313.1860
(User was banned for this post ("Reposting an already closed article that's still on the first page." - BANNED USER))
If NASA says this is real I still won't believe it.
so, what are some implications of this being true, someone who knows far more about this kind of thing than I do such as JohnnyMo1
so, what are some implications of this being true, someone who knows far more about this kind of thing than I do such as JohnnyMo1
We can say stuff like, "Into the warp field!" and mean it.
so, what are some implications of this being true, someone who knows far more about this kind of thing than I do such as JohnnyMo1
Well, the only proof that we have about this is that when they were measuring the beams in the Resonance chamber of the EmDrive. Some of the beams of light were going faster than the typical speed of light, so by some degree, this engine is causing this effect.
Every time the EmDrive fails to not work I get slightly more excited.
Im extremely skeptical. If this turns out to be true its going to require us to rethink relativity or our current model of particle physics.
Just imagine if this turns out to be true The key to interstellar travel discovered as an accident That's such a human thing God help the universe we bumble out into
On the face of it, if this is true, then it shouldn't be too difficult to replicate the results in other labs. Wait for peer review before getting excited.
I wouldn't use a UFO/cryptid/Paranormal website as a source for matters concerning physics and faster than light travel.
Also reading the actual NASA forums about this it seems like they said it doesnt mean much until they try it in a vacuum, which they havent.

Probably experimental error.
Also reading the actual NASA forums about this it seems like they said it doesnt mean much until they try it in a vacuum, which they havent.
Holy crap, they still haven't tested it in an actual vacuum? Until they do, there are just too many other things that could be causing their miniscule thrust for their experiment to actually be valid.
most probably a false alarm unfortunately
Its probably just some faulty equipment or something else contaminating the experiment. This is too cool to actually ever be real
Nice source op.

im extremely skeptical the EM drive as a massless reaction drive has always been a stretch, but claiming now that it bends space-time is stretching it a bit past believable
