the secret world is actually awesome.
has the best writing in MMO's in a long time. not to mention it's one of the only games in a long time that requires you to think (One of the quests has a riddle and the answer is to kill yourself and go back to that place while dead and play a puzzle game)

I can't speak for any other subsidiary, but from what I hear from two guys that worked at DICE, EA corporate is pretty hands off. The extent of their power is deadlines and that's about it.

That's DICE though. For some reason EA doesn't seem to skin DICE and wear them around like a suit like a lot of other developers under their dominion.
