It seems AMD are directly aiming at nVidia in this blog, claiming to have always been the king of the GPU market. Too bad AMD are still weak in the CPU region.

I'll update with more soon.
Anyone planning on investing in one in the future?
AMD's 'ZeroCore Power' technology they put on this card looks amazing

Wasnt the 590 dubbed the fastest?
Not just announced. Reviews are coming out now.

Than what? 6990 was faster in many cases because it was barely downclocked.
But with AMD removing focus from it's desktop CPUs this might get more funding and more research put into it, and maybe a competent team to work on drivers.
But I'm still waiting for Nvidia's rebuttal with Kepler.

Ahh my bad.
automerge.
Also I seem to remember that Dual GPU cards are relatively useless since two cheaper cards can push out more performance at a lower price.

Dual GPU cards fit a purpose. What if you only have room for one card, then dual cards won't work. If the kepler dual GPU cards are good enough I might get two.
My 6970 is now officially old. This is a sad day, my dear fp.

And that is why I hate and admire you Brt.
That's nice but how much is it?

Not overwhelmingly awesome.
At least not as awesome as they made it out to be in the press releases, though the compute benchmarks are a massive step up from the 6xxx series. But is it really worth 549?
ARGH. AUTOMERGE.
This page will look a big stripy thing for me.

549 dollas
worth the $50 over the 580 I'd say
Then again, the 580 hasn't dropped in price much and is still end of last years performance. So it's not surprising the 7970 performance wise seems like a better value.

7990 perhaps

The terms "graphics card" and "invest" doesn't really go well, since they gets antiquated too easily
I'll be sticking with 570 for now I think.
Even when that's not enough I'll just buy anoher 560 and outperform this.
My next update will probably be the 8xxx or 7xx series.
WHY, I Just bought 2 6950's, arewell they should still last awhile

2013? Isn't it a bit redundant to talk about those?
Also, I'd say performance is pretty impressive, both in comparison to the GTX 580, but more when you look at the 6970 - especially when you count in that this is probably not even release drivers. Overclocking looks pretty darn swell, as well.
I am thinking that the ZeroCore might fuck up sometimes with the fan stopping. Like, it shuts itself down, shuts off the fan etc. and forgots to turn it on later.

Cooler fans of graphics cards usually have a duty fanspeed (minimumspeed of 20% or similiar), so it wouldn't completely shut it down.
... but I could be wrong.
I think I should try and sell my 580's now. You still can't buy 7970's.
Let's hope that they didn't count some of the transistors twice this time.
Still waiting for the price of current gen cards to go down so I can finally upgrade.

If you're selling them cheap.....
If you're selling them cheap.....
I wonder how much I could get for them. $450 each perhaps.
Hell yeah, finally we have 28nm cards being released! I'm still waiting for the 7870 though, I have high hopes that it will match the previous current generation's top cards at a sweet price point.
My guess is that the 7870 will have 570-6970 performance for maybe 300 bucks.
I wonder how much I could get for them. $450 each perhaps.
Definitely out my price range then :(
If you find you really can't sell them then i'd give you $100 for them :L
Compared to the 6970, 40% average is a decent jump. BF3 performance has a substantial leap too. Only a little bit quicker than the 580 in that game, but Nvidia had a large lead previously.
Overall I'm not entirely impressed completely, but definitely not disappointed. A solid 50% increase over the 6970 is what I expected, but this ain't so bad.
Price I don't agree with though. $450 should have been the MSRP. Though I think they will drop the price once Nvidia releases the Kepler. It will be probably be like last round, with Nvidia having the fastest single card, but more expensive and power hungry.
cant wait for the mainstream cards to come in
