I'm pretty sure I got Borderlands 2 from there ages ago iirc, I'd say they are pretty reliable.

so i guess the only downside is that it's not redeemable on steam but on UPlay which i've never heard of before.
i don't suppose you've used uplay before have you? and is it as bad as Games for Windows Live?

It's not really as bad as GFWL or as good as Steam, it's really just another layer of DRM to get in your way.
