My iPhone actually lost a bit of battery just by idling overnight (something that never happened with my iPod touch), is it better to turn it off? I'm not familiar with smartphone batteries but I've heard they die quickly (die as in permanently) so I don't want to fuck it up.
Turn off things like wifi 3g and gps at night, surely there's some battery saving options
How do you do this
Am I correct in thinking you are under the assumption that once the battery drains to 0% it is "dead" and as such the full battery needs replacing?
If so I can assure you this is false. In my own experience the iPhone has always shut itself off when the battery reaches about 3%, at which point it completely refuses to boot until it's been charged a bit.
No I mean like the battery dies permanently after not too many charge cycles, at least less than any other phone (this is what I heard).
You've heard incorrectly. The battery won't just "die" after not being charged.
However it is good practice to charge your iPhone as much as possible, but to also charge it from below 20% to 100% at least once a month as this helps to prolong the battery life.
Imagine the battery life as a glass of milk. You drink the milk down then you refill it, after a few times of doing this regardless of how many times you've done it, the milk will start to curd. Once it's curded no matter how many times you try to drink/refill it, it's going to be dirty.
The solution of course is to clean out all the milk in the glass and refill it with fresh milk.

How much battery are you losing? My 3GS usually drops to 90-95% overnight if I unplug it before I sleep. This is with all 3G, wifi, Bluetooth etc turned on.
Turn your damn Push Notifications off.
I heard it's really good for your battery if you atleast let it die once a month. Something about it lets the battery operate better.
I uh don't turn anything off and my 18 month old iPhone 4 easily makes it 2 days without needing charged. iPhones will lose more power over night since they keep using celluar radios during the night, but, but it should be fine. How much is a lot of battery anyway?

In fact I just checked and I have 32% remaining after being on standby for 1 day and 23 hours, so yeah depending on what you mean by a lot yours might be defective or something
Don't you mean the other way 95-90% LOL

Look all this Talk is just make me giggle haha, Ummm if you go and let your battery drain to 0% each week of month you will have a good standing battery. If you are a Faggot and let if drain to 0 and then use it and use it well it is charging you will not have a very good battery life. You will have to go and have crap battery life on your phone. :D
I've noticed if I leave my iPhone 4 at around 8 or 9 percent battery when I go to bed, it'll be dead when I wake up. I suggest just leaving it plugged up over night. That way you wake up to a nice, fresh 100% charge.

He means it loses 90-95% of the battery life.
No I meant it loses 5-10%. I worded it the wrong way around I guess
Just charge it overnight, problem solved.
