Hurricane Matthew's potentially catastrophic strike on Haiti is imminent, and it will also impact parts of Jamaica, eastern Cuba and the Bahamas.
Late this week and into the weekend, portions of the coastal southeastern U.S. states could see impacts from Matthew. Interests from Florida to the coastal Carolinas should monitor the progress of Matthew very closely.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said in its 5 p.m. advisory Monday, "While there remains significant uncertainty in the track of Matthew in the long range, the threat to Florida and the southeastern U.S. coast has increased."
Hurricane warnings are in effect for Haiti, eastern Cuba, the southeastern Bahamas (including the Inaguas, Mayaguana, Acklins, Crooked Island, Long Cay and Ragged Island) and the central Bahamas (including Long Island, Exuma, Rum Cay, San Salvador and Cat Island).
Hurricane watches continue for the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Cuban province of Camaguey and the northwestern Bahamas, including the Abacos, Andros Island, Berry Islands, Bimini, Eleuthera, Grand Bahama Island and New Providence.

Little brother is working in the Keyes drilling water wells. Hope this shit doesn't hit too hard for his sake.
Been to Cuba three times and made amazing friends there. They are like my second family. I hope no one will be hurt.
Oh for fucks sake its hitting here.
Welp, looks like Charleston's gonna get smacked by this one. Good thing I'm on the 3rd story of my building deep inside downtown...
Time to have a hurricane party.
Shit, looks like it's going to touch me in PA.

Same. It also looks like my grandparents picked the worst week to go to FLA.
Hope the power isn't out for too long.

Well it look's like the water is taking the party to him.

coral springs area here; Just hoping it doesn't screw up my new apartment, I just moved in!
I doubt it will do anything to me in Jacksonville.
Here in West NC we will get clouds and wind but that is it.
Good thing I saw this coming and stocked up on Saturday, on top of the emergency supplies I always have. Might do a second stock-up just to be on the safe side.

If the forceasts are accurate the keys should be OK
Well, shit. Mandatory Evacuation has begun for Charleston, everyone will be forced to evac to outside the 100mi danger zone by 3 PM tomorrow. My college shuts down in an hour.
The SC govt.'s hinting that a direct hit may be as bad as Hugo.

That's what I thought. Looks it's it's moving up the eastern seaboard rather than towards the gulf. Either way I'm sure work is hell for him today
The western side of a hurricane is nothin', he'll be fine. I've been in 3 hurricanes now. Katrina, Ivan and Dennis. The eye of Dennis passed about a mile from me, and was a cat 3 when it made landfall, and I can throw a baseball into the salty bay from where I live. Power didn't even go out
Ivan, on the other hand, also a Cat 3 when it made landfall, and I was much further east and it just fucked up everything. Some siding of my house was ripped off and the paint on my car was sandblasted, but everything on the shore was destroyed. There were more boats on the north side of the highway than the south side. There were boats turned upside down and COMPLETELY buried in the sand on the beach. Deep parts of the bay you can now to this day walk in because entire sand dunes just got moved and pushed into it
God I hope the west side of Florida wont be horrible.
Hahaha I'm in Jacksonville R.I.P. ME

You'll probably just get rain unless it moves further inland. The real threat is the east coast.

Shouldn't be that bad here as long as it stays on it's current projected track, mainly flooding is the big issue in Downtown Jax near the rivers and beaches of course. Probably some tropical storm force winds though. Expect the city to pretty much shut down on Friday though.
I'm in West Palm Beach, and from what I read they are saying it'll maintain the Cat 4 til it passes us.
I've been on call for like the last 3 days for the ER.

this is looking to be the biggest 'cane to hit south Florida in years. At least if I die I won't have to go to biochem class

Same for North Florida, probably gonna be the worse one we've had in a little over 20 years. Already getting 20 ft waves
USA deployed the carrier George Washington to assist Haiti.
Looking to be a cat 4 when it hits Florida ; this probably won't be to great
