A couple has been arrested after their 10-month old baby boy was found to be under the influence of methamphetamine. Police say the baby may have been contaminated by inhaling second hand smoke. Margarita Reyes of Merced rushed her ten month old baby boy to the Mercy Hospital Emergency Room early Sunday morning. Merced police say Reyes told the doctors that her baby wouldn't sleep and was irritable. Sgt. Bob Chapman of the Merced Police Department says, "The mom did admit she was a habitual user of meth and that she had smoked meth in the residence but not in the presence of the child." Margarita Reyes and the baby's father Ernesto Estrada lived in this small apartment in southwest Merced. Sgt. Chapman says the baby either ingested the meth or inhaled the toxic fumes. He says the city has had many cases of babies being born with meth in their system but this is the first case where a baby is found to be under the influence after birth. Dr. Sylvester Bryan, an emergency room doctor at Children's Hospital Central California in Madera, agrees that meth intoxication is rare. He says, "It's unusual to see a baby getting it just from smoking but we do know that with meth you can get intoxicated from inhalation." Sgt. Chapman says meth is a huge problem in Merced as it is all over the Central Valley. He says there are more people arrested on meth charges than any other drug. He hopes this weekend's case is the first and last case of meth intoxication in a baby. The couple's 10-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son were taken out of the home by child protective services. The 10-month-old baby is doing fine. All three of the children are now in the care of relatives. Mom and dad are in the Merced County jail.[/release] :wtc:
You post a lot of news threads. On topic - Hahahahahahahahah
Seriously what the fuck
Parents with high standards.
The fuck?
Don't smoke meth in the same house as your fucking kids. I don't really mind methheads, they're not bad people, they're tweaky and a bit weird, but it's the crack addicts you gotta watch for.
Well, I guess the parents won't be able to act so High and mighty anymore.
He says the city has had many cases of babies being born with meth in their system but this is the first case where a baby is found to be under the influence after birth.
I hope those babies are taken to Child Services after birth. If they're being born with drugs already in their system, well that just screams "unfit mother".
You keep making misleading titles.

That's incredibly fucked, and will probably cause the rest of their life to suck, or be difficult. Definitely leaves a huge problem in the addiction centre of the brain. Mothers really should know better, even addicts.

They're worse then crack addicts, in fact all addicts are pretty bad. I've been around enough and seen several to know.
Get 'em while they're young
I would only expect something like this to happen in Merced; central CA is a fucking dump.
Have you been around methheads? They're worse then crack addicts, in fact all addicts are pretty bad. I've been around enough and seen several to know.
yeah, I've hung out with a lot. I grew up in the meth capital of canada. I hung out with more crackheads that methheads though, and I can tell you straight up, crackheads are fucking terrible, crack is a more addictive and damaging drug too. Not all addicts are bad, and not all drugs are bad. I was a heroin addict and I never robbed anyone, never killed anyone, and never started a fight to get heroin or money. And I knew many other addicts of many other drugs, and never did one of my friends do anything like that. Yes, circumstantial evidence at best, my experiences don't equal facts, but by this alone, you can't say all addicts are bad people. Many addicts are successful, and fairly regular people, obsessions and addictions are different.
