Have you ever heard an Auditory Illusion? : Check out these Holophonic Sounds
66 replies, posted
These super clear audio files are called holophony (holophonic sound recordings) and are designed to be listened to with headphones for the best effect. They have been recorded with a dummy head that has two microphones, one in each ear. The shape of the head and ears are designed to be similar to a human head to most closely replicate real human hearing. It’s pretty incredible.
Grab your headphones and have a listen. While the content itself isn’t that engaging, the sound effects will probably have you listening a second time.
You have to visit the website to hear the sounds

This stuff is so damn crazy, it gave me goosebumps. I flinched twice then Luigi brought the scissors to my ears
The matchbox made me look to where I assumed the sound was coming from
And the lady's voice (personally) made me uncomfortable when she got so close
Didn't need this before sleeping and it's odd that I can hear it perfectly even though I have my headphones on its disturbing.
You're a holophone.
The woman's voice scared the fuck out of me.
I actually looked over to see if she was there.

Check out these too.
I saw I youtube video of the haircut one, pretty awesome if I do say so myself.
It's a good way to test if your 5.1 speakers are working.
I get these a lot on mushrooms or acid. Occasionally when I'm sober, because I've damaged my brain from doing too much mushrooms and acid in the past. Once in a while visual hallucinations too.

Oh lol, thought it was about auditory hallucinations. Nevermind
I'm too scared to go to the website. :sissies:

These are only stereo audio files. Rated dumb.
Oh my.
Tried it with my turtle beach x41's. Shit so many bricks.
holy shit this is crazy
These are kick-ass.
Heared this years ago, but it is still amazing.
Damn, I swear I could feel the woman's breath when she gets close to your ears.
These novelty uses are fun, but they have been used in music too. Pink Floyd and Pearl Jam spring to mind, but there are some others.
mawy jane...mawy jane....mawy jane :v:
God damnit--the first one--it's RATTLING AROUND MY HEAD :tinfoil:

Also, somehow, SOMEHOW, games need to do this. To the level of clarity there is in these sounds, that is.
Good god....I'm listening to the haircut one.It seriously seems like it's real.I actually felt like the guitar guy passed me!
Fucking eerie.
Holy fuck I just got scared shitless :tinfoil:

Those would be flashbacks, and no actual damage has been done because unless you OD'd on either drug, your brain would be just fine. Flashbacks are purely psychological and would create the things you're going through.
Quite old, but at the same time...never gets old.
this thing scared the shit out of me
holy shit close your eyes for the best effect
I guess you guys have never played a PC game wearing headphones? This is how I tell where people are in FPS's.
Listen to this (with headphones of course), it's another holophonic sound but this time it's of riding a bike. Some people actually get motion sickness from listening to it. For the best effect, close your eyes.
I'm sure there's some game that does this or is going to do this in the sense that it creates this kind of effect on the fly using the position of the players head (and ears) in relation to sounds going on around them.

The virtual haircut is so good. I had to resist the temptation to look behind me
Where he goes to play the guitar is just where my guitar in my room is
The Virtual Haircut was pretty badass.
