Hello, Facepunchers! My wireless adapter on my laptop is not working. Though it says in device manager and control panel that its activated. I tried to deactivate it to activate it again down in the taskbar. But wasn't given the opportunity to activate it trough there. I have a Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 Wireless Adapter in my laptop. And i would like some help ASAP since i need it for school work tomorrow.
Not working as in ?
So there's a wireless connection icon in the taskbar but wont let you connect to a network?
As in it won't find any wireless networks. Which it would've found before. Yes there's a wireless icon in the taskbar with a red x on it.
So it will attempt to scan for networks, but wont find any? Or does it report an error when you try to scan?
Uhm if the refresh button that pops up when clicking the icon in the taskbar is the scan then it won't find any yes. If not then please tell me how to find it..
Please help me.. I can try and get a picture of it if needed?
Did you accidently disable the device? Lenovo Laptops have a switch on the side & most laptops have some FN + F-key combination
I disabled the device on the icon in the taskbar. Ive tried to click FN F2 but it isnt doing anything. FN should be working since i can mute sound etc might be a problem with the key F2 then. I am using An ASUS K58J i believe its named. Please help me trough this since im in school right now and kinda need it a lot...
Please write any suggestion to fix the problem that u can find! Every single one since im going to travel in the weekend.. Thanks for your help hope u can find out.
Hello, so i'm back can anyone help me?
Hello, so i'm back can anyone help me?
It would help a lot if you took some screenshots of - device manager - network adapters - and the bottom right if your taskbar (cant remember the name, but a screenshot of when you hit refresh on network search would be nice)
Is the device disabled under Network Connections? If it doesn't appear there, reinstall drivers? ^^
Ehm doesnt seem like i can find drivers for Qualcomm Atheros AR9285. I don't understand all those sites.. [editline]10th March 2013[/editline] zapha i'll try and get some screenshots tmrw. Has to be with iPod tho sry. My laptop apparently won't connect to my iPod so can't move files over.. I'll try to find an USB tho.
We can help you find a driver. What OS do you have?
I've got Win7 Home Premium. Believe it's 32 Bit. But im not quite sure can u tell me how to find out? ^^
Is there a C:\Program Files (x86)?
Yea, theres a C:\Program Files (x86) so it's a 64 bit.
Here are some drivers you can try: http://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=37&system=6 And http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/NETWORK-CARD/Atheros/Atheros-AR9285-WLAN-Driver-100067-for-Windows-7.shtml I must say. I would never buy any hardware from a company that has no drivers section on their site. Seems kinda bogus. But anyway. Go to control panel, device manager, right click the Wlan network adapter and choose "uninstall". Then you install one of those drivers.
Well i've had the PC for 2 years now. And back then i only looked on CPU, GPU and RAM and ignored all other except the price of course. But thanks for the drivers i'll try it out sometime soon!
Ehh there is no executable file in the drivers u send me? Can u walk me trough this? I've got 2 .cat files 2 .inf files and 2 .sys files nothing more. And its all saved in a .rar file from the download. I've uninstalled the drivers but can't install the new ones.. Please hurry :/ [editline]12th March 2013[/editline] Can't borrow a PC forever [editline]12th March 2013[/editline] Nvm i got help from Darkwater..
Ok, so i have figured out how to get my adapter working. But whenever i put my laptop to sleep or shut it down. The adapter will stop working and i'll have to reset it each time. Is there any way to solve this? I am removing the adapter in the device manager then finding it again. Then i am able to connect to the internet. But as i said above it will stop working each time i sleep or shut down my laptop. :/ Please help me ASAP, Thanks
Guys? :/
Guys? :/
Have you tried reinstalling the OS? I haven't seen this before though, but I think the OS butches your WLAN adapter every time you shut down Windows.
I have not but i would really like to not do it. Is there any other way than reinstalling OS?
Uninstall drivers, install new drivers. Download the versions before uninstalling, unless you have a usb and a second pc :S
I've done that thats how i got it working in the first place. (The thread is made because it wouldn't work. Now it's having the above problem)
