What is this dynDNS program? And what does it do?http://www.sitedevelopers.com/dyndns/faq.aspx
iirc it's for people with a dynamic ip, it auto updates your dyndns info with your new ip
if you have a dynamic IP you can use dyndns to host a server at your home and it automatically updates nameservers with your new IP whenever it changes
It allows domain name providers like no-ip.com to associate a domain name with a changing (dynamic) ip address.
In simpler terms it allows your ip address that is probably dynamic (changes every once in a while) to be associated with a domain name like example.com
You would need a static ip (doesn't change) to do this without this software.
Ah,thank you
Many routers come with built-in DynDNS updater IIRC
It is really useful if you have a Dynamic IP.
Each time your computer starts, it scans your IP, sends your IP to the DynDNS server and redirects your DynDNS adress (something like antonftw.kicks-ass.net) to your IP.
If you have a server up, people can just enter the antonftw.kicks-ass.net instead of you having to tell them your new IP all the time.
