Hi-Rez Studios Breaks its own EULA, then proceeds to state no further updates will be made on Tribes

In a recent Le Reddit thread, after countless attempts from the community to petition HiRez to do something about the game they abandoned, HiRezTodd who partly owns HiRez posts saying this:
So here's a really simple question for, well, any HiRez employee to answer: What is the status of development on Tribes: Ascend?
There are no major dev updates planned for Tribes: Ascend in the next six months.
For the next six months our primary development focus is SMITE. Beyond that it is GA2. And beyond that a TA2 would be more likely than a major update to TA; but to be clear no devs are currently working toward TA2.
Per the development blog on our forums, the recent TA work has been Kate developing some additional maps. If time allows then these new TA maps (along with some bug-fixes) would be finalized and deployed but no committed date yet.
We continue to support TA servers, online community events, tournaments with prizing, bringing Tribes to offline events like recent RTX and upcoming QuakeCon, and live-streaming.
Previous to this happening, another user posts how they've been breaking their EULA from launch:
The Tribes/Smite/GA EULA states Hi-Rez has the right to monitor for blacklist software while the game is open. Evidence has shown that Hi-Rez monitors your computer for blacklist software even when Tribes/Smite/GA is closed, which violates the agreement in the EULA.
And no more than 12 hours later, Altimor - a well known modder and exploiter of Tribes (most notable for getting banned for correctly displaying projectiles in high-latency scenarios, which was then later added into the game) begins requesting help from the community in order to create the framework to mod Tribes: Ascend. Although he's already been able to give himself any amount of gold (the in game currency) which he quietly told the developers about and allowed them to fix (which they didn't), host his own servers on a dedicated box and produce his own maps, this is the major push for the hardcore fans of the series to branch off and be able to update and maintain their own versions of Tribes, without having to pester a lazy and incompetent developer to do it instead.

Oh and as a note, please do the exact opposite of what my title states.
Sigh. And Tribes Ascend was looking so, so good. Then they just fucking STOPPED UPDATING IT
Welp, here's to hoping someone else will give the property a shot 4 years from now
I believe in our Tribes Lord and Savior Altimor
hirez hasn't done shit for T:A lately so ANY progress Alt & Company makes is fantastic.
"I am certainly glad that the development studio behind the smash hit Global Agenda acquired the Tribes license" said no one
My account got banned for blacklist software because I was messing around with some friends in a private BF:H server. A few days later, I launched T:A and discovered that I'd been banned even though I knew I'd never tried to cheat and they refused to give me any information as to why aside from "blacklist software".
Everyone assumed I was lying about not having cheated and disregarded my claims that something fishy was going on.
Tribes is a good example of how not to make a free to play game because a lot of the weapons you can buy are literally superior to the weapons you start with which is stupid as fuck.
"but you can buy them with in-game money" yeah, after playing for 600 years straight

But they're not tho.
The Pathfinder Spinfusor is the best weapon on that class, the AR and thumper is the best weapon combo for the Soldier, the Mortar and spinfusor is also one of the best combos for the Juggernaut.
Also Doombringer's starting weapon is one of his best, same for the Brute, Technician, Raider and to some extent the Infiltrator.
HiRez are incompetent at a lot of things, but weapon weapon balance wasn't one of those things (excluding the ones they added in updates like the NJ-B and the Jackal.).
When thumper came out everyone called it OP until they realised that you actually had to be semi good to not get frazzled with it.
TA was such a great game until it got out of beta, and they horribly balanced the weapons making it such a Pay2Win title.

I guess they'll never change the way they work.

Tribes was P2W for about 2 days with the Raider update, the only reason it gets that impression is because of the skill bar that most players are at - it was one of the most well balanced F2P FPS games on the market.
moba rush
Ditching Tribes for Smite, what a sad state they have come to.
The only weapon that is a Direct upgrade in my opinion is the devastator spinfusor.
Bigger splash radius and higher direct impact damage, at a minor decrease in splash damage.
The twinfusors are fun and I know the downside is less alpha damage, but I am good enough at the 2 shot with them, making them overall better for me.

Yea no
AR/Thumpdx/Proxy/Utility Pack for Soldier
MIRV/X1 LMG/Throwing disc for Jug
Chaingun/Titan Launcher/Mines for Doombringer
Any primary/Desert NJ4/EMP-XL for Raider
Stealthfusor/Arctic SN7 for Inf
The unlocks I have listed are downright superior to the originals, the only exception being MIRV (which is better for clearing flagstands like heavy O is meant to, but can't hit tight spots)
And of course you need Safety Third & Quick Draw for combat classes and Rage & Lightweight to chase.

The vast majority of weapons are a sidegrade. Additionally it doesn't take more than a few hours a day to unlock a weapon you want, and I'm talking about before they slashed the XP prices on everything by half.
I actually bought a starter pack and only spent about a third of the premium currency it came with because buying everything with ingame XP was so easy :v:

Sorry but this game is full to-the-brim with pay2win bullshit. I mean fuck you even have to unlock the iconic Spinfuser itself.
its not pay2win if you can get the stuff that lets you win without paying.
Let me sum up my recent experiences with TA:
DEVASTATOR SPINFUSER
Everyone and their mother, their mothers mother, and their mothers mothers dog were using this fucking thing because it can OHK mediums.
Oh, how about the fantastically balanced EXTENDED FRACTAL? Or the MIRV?

extended fractal is BS, I know, but the mirv is a bit harder to control in open areas that are contained(the big rooms) as the mirv causes the rounds to go to the ground after initial detonation, while the standard mortar gives an airburst when bounced off of high walls.
They need to focus on that bad moba game no one is going to play
I enjoyed the game until they added the plasma rifle for the raider and got to a higher ranking where people could reliably snipe.
Oh, you killed the sentinel and juggernaut spamming your base from mid with the fusion mortar? Too bad they respawn in just a few seconds seconds.
It's a shame this seems to be the pattern with hi-rez. Global Agenda was abandoned to work on Tribes Ascend, then Tribes Ascend is getting abandoned for Smite, and when Smite crashes and burns into the ground it'll be abandoned for Global Agenda 2.
Let's just go foward in time to Global Agenda 2 and skip all the bullshit. Global Agenda was really fucking good but it died after it was never updated again.

or how about let hirez crash and burn because they're a shit company? STOP SUPPORTING THEM.
I was really enjoying Tribes early on, and had even bought the starter pack, but soon after I suddenly got burnt out. It was weird, I was enjoying one week, and just couldn't have fun the next. I think I might have enjoyed the game best when it was just the 9 classes with pre-determined loadouts, even though I thought it was dumb how removed the inventory system, and I'm normally a stickler for progression systems. Now I hated thinking about the game because I still have a bunch of gold doing nothing.
First End of Nations and now this.
Ugh, everyone jumping on the damn MOBA train and leaving potentially good games to die.
This.
As much as I bitch about the weapons, this is ^^^ is actually what caused me to leave. The actual base-vs-base team-based gameplay is complete and utter shit. The base design is hands-down the worst I have ever seen in my history of gaming and they are blatantly designed to be dumbed-down and easy to attack. All it takes is one jug at mid or a brute with fractals in your base and everything is pretty much been shut down. I would say roughly 3/4 of the pub games I played consisted of the generator being down for the entire round and nobody even bothered with it because it is a waste of time. When you and your team have put in a good effort to put up defenses and upgrade your shit then it's pretty fucking bullshit when all it takes is a few heavies to ski in and trash the place in under 10 seconds. This was even more bullshit before they added in turret shields because then base assets could be sniped literally from across the map and there was nothing you could do about it.
Pubs are extremely bad.

That argument is stupid if you need to grind for shit like that.

If they crashed and burned and Global Agenda got handed off to a competent developer I would be super OK with that.

They def aren't seeing a penny from me again. Global Agenda was a failure (in their own words) but an ambitious failure that was just too much vision for too small a team. Tribes Ascend was really good for awhile but it's become increasingly clear that Hi-Rez just do not care for the games or communities they create after a certain amount of time and move on to the next project. I wish them luck on Smite, they are going to need it in such an absurdly crowded marketplace, but I'm more than likely done with them as a company and so are all the people I know who have been waiting for problems in T:A to be fixed just to hear this.
That argument is stupid if you need to grind for shit like that.
I hope you feel as strongly about almost every other FPS on the market right now that has copied the same pseudo-RPG progression and compared to F2P games in general, Tribes was very generous on the progression.
lots of competitive teams and players are leaving tribes and onto other games, including one of the top eu teams.
