Rodeman, 35, was a seven-year veteran of the Lansing Fire Department. He was married two months ago and expecting his first child. When the incident happened at about 3:40 p.m ET, he was collecting money for muscular dystrophy research near the intersection of Cedar Street and Jolly Road, police and city officials said. The suspect — a 22-year-old Lansing man — drove away from the scene and was caught near the intersection of Holmes and Waverly roads after a car and foot chase, police said. Lansing police originally said the man was 32. Police said there was a verbal exchange between the suspect and Rodeman moments before the incident. "The suspect came by, was upset for whatever reason (and) circled back around" before running into the firefighter, Kraus said. "The preliminary investigation is that he deliberately hit the firefighter who was standing in the road, collecting for the charity." The suspect, who was driving a small pickup truck, continued north on Cedar Street and eventually was stopped in the 3100 block of Lawdor Road, Lansing police Capt. Darin Southworth said in a news release. He ran from the vehicle and was caught by officers. Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero announced Rodeman's death in a statement shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday. Bernero called the incident "a senseless, unthinkable tragedy." This is incredibly tragic, and I offer my condolences to the firefighter's friends and family. The fact that the killer came back and deliberately hit him makes me hope that he'll get nailed with a first degree murder charge. I've seen this before - emergency workers standing in the middle of the road to collect money - and it's always seemed very dangerous to me. Could someone who has a better understanding of this enlighten me as to why this is the way these types of collections are run? Beyond getting the attention of passing drivers.

what a low piece of shit,.
Hope he gets buttfucked to the full extent of the law.
For those who desire to support the family following this tragedy, the city has set up a donation page.
I was just expecting some tragic accident where a reckless driver accidentally hit the guy, but goddamn the driver sounds like a piece of shit.
What a fucknugget.
He not only circled around just to hit this guy after seeing him, but then promptly tried to drive it off as a hit-and-run and got into a car chase that continued on-foot. I mean, hell, he didn't just kill a man but endangered everyone on the road and around him too.
Hard to fathom why this kid thought the most reasonable response for his hissy fit was to run a man over with his truck. When I get pissed with someone, the first thought isn't to murder someone. I can't imagine any words they exchanged were worthy of anything like this. People seriously kill for so little.
The guy driving the truck genuinely either has to have something wrong with him or was on something.
The guy driving the truck genuinely either has to have something wrong with him or was on something.
Nope, cold blooded murder.
