People still play this?
And the people who downloaded the DLC need to pay after two weeks?
And the people who downloaded the DLC need to pay after two weeks?
That's the surprise!
I had already forgotten about this game.
i'll admit I preordered brink and defended it for a bit but yeah I completely forgot about it after the first week
This is a fun game, but it doesn't work on my desktop, and the hell if I'm playing this in 800x600 on my laptop any more than I already have.
Pre-ordering this was possibly the stupidest thing I did all year.
The reason it's not on Steam in the UK is because Game and other gaming outlets refused to sell it otherwise.
if only there were more than 2 maps, the game wouldn't be so dead.
In that case the game isn't so dead right now. [editline]24th June 2011[/editline]
Are you serious? Only 2 maps? Wow.
It has more than 2 maps. That was just Richy being silly.
I'd play the hell out of this game if I could, but my laptop is fucking broken and I can't play anything. :smith:
I really wish I could play this game, but after getting everything so fast, there just really wasn't a whole lot to do.
I really wish I could play this game, but after getting everything so fast, there just really wasn't a whole lot to do.
Same for me, though... this DLC will definitely get me into the game again, along with that awesome patch that came out yesterday.
Brink is a fun game with pretty decent maps. The problem is peope believed it'd be some sort of Mirrors Edge esque game where you would be bouncing around and flying around gunning people in the air. What they don't see is that sort of gameplay is pretty impossible. For what Brink does, it's pretty good.
I'm a bit confused here, so we know Brink was taken off of steam in Britain on the Release date (as some one mentioned earlier, supposedly a large game retailer, likely GAME, refused to sell Brink in their store unless they took it off of steam) but what about the DLC? Will that still be accessible by Brits? I assume it will since you need to use steam to be able to play Brink anyway but if we can't get it then I'm going to be very annoyed.
Game needs to fuck off, they don't even sell new pc games so they're obviously just doing it to be cunts. Anyone who would rather have it on steam, go get a USA vpn and buy it while connected to that.
Brink feels incredibly clunky. The movements are jerky all over. Even going over a small barrier and my camera is having a seizure. I don't have any sensitivity to motion, but it feels like my head is now on a rope flying all over the place. The game has so much potential if the maps were designed around the movement system.

The game shows several flaws that subconsciously break the game. The level layout is bad or confusing, the gunplay doesn't feel right, movement doesn't feel right, the S.M.A.R.T system is way less exiting and involved as I thought it'd be, and, like Yathzee said, the player classes only differ in what object you keep your action button pressed on. The overall experience is pretty forgettable. That's just a cold analysis from a game design perspective. There's still fun to be had of course, but in the end the only real thing that sets Brink apart is the customization.
I actually love this game and have put about 50 hours in to the multiplayer. I know the complaints people have, but I just don't see them myself but maybe that's because I watched gameplay videos before it was released so I knew what to expect. [editline]24th June 2011[/editline]
if only there were more than 2 maps, the game wouldn't be so dead.
There's still tons of people that play this game on PC and it has 8 maps total.
People still play this?
Not on Xbox. Which is a shame because I really liked it.

The game shouldn't have been released in the state it was and should have been further developed. But you also have to ask who wanted it to be released sooner, Bethseda or Splash Damage?

I remember an article in some magazine talking about the SMART system, and how it "isn't just a glorified sprint button." Unfortunately that's exactly what it is. I also remember how hard they hyped up the campaign and story to be, that was one of the main reasons I bought it, but I beat both campaigns in less than 6 hours and never touched it again. Incredibly forgettable, but from what I can remember, they never actually explain anything other than "these guys want to blow up the ark/leave the ark and you shouldn't let them" or vice-versa and then let you free to shoot everyone. It absolutely didn't deliver what it said it would, which is a hell of a shame, because if it were the same game that they advertised I would've loved it. [editline]24th June 2011[/editline] I'm not even going to get into the awful gameplay, I'd hope that anyone that's actually played it would have noticed it.
free?! where are my ridiculous expensive Map DLCs?!

Problem is that a lot of people think this because it doesn't point out to you what to do with it like Mirror's Edge but once you figure it out, it works just like they said during development As for awful gameplay, I've put 50 hours in to the game and have no idea what you're talking about except that the singleplayer sucks. [editline]24th June 2011[/editline] If you really did follow the development and watched their gameplay videos, then I don't see how it could be a surprise when the gameplay is exactly like they showed.
Goddammit FP, why did I let you convince me to buy this? I haven't played for more than 5 hours. :smith:
Hype is a cruel mistress.
I don't understand how people could get so hyped up and then so disappointed with it. Splash Damage released TONS of videos of the game and they were exactly like the final product other than the early technical issues. They weren't obscure and trying to hype it. They laid out exactly what the game was and how it worked before the release.
Pre-ordering this was possibly the stupidest thing I did all year.
Not really stupid, I mean lets be honest, the majority of us thought this game was going to be awesome.
It's true, I agree completely, but even then the thing we didn't realise was that even that was really boring after 5 hours.
How quickly it gets boring seems to be personal taste since some people get bored in a few hours and other like me can put 50 hours in to it. Those like me seem to be a minority though.
