I am looking at getting a used 4 door sedan for around 8000 or less with under 75000 miles. Anybody have any suggestions on what would be a good car to move into. I am currently in a 2000 toyota tacoma with 143000 miles. It runs fine but I need more seating and a bit better gas mileage.

Let me know if I need to post more information.
Give your areas craigslist.
Georgia, USA. I have been looking on autotrader but they seem to be a bit overpriced.

Kidding, get this.
I am looking for something that needs no immediate work. I am not the most car savvy person though I do know a bunch of people who can do work for just the parts and a few beers. I have about 8000 dollars to throw at this so I know I can get something with under 75000 miles that I dont have to throw parts at.
I'm joking of course. You didn't give us a "craiglist area", you gave us a state. Do you realise how many craigslist sites are in Georgia alone?
Really anywhere in Georgia works. I dont mind driving around the state to find something nice. I am closest to Atlanta so that works if I have to choose one.

Little higher mileage but well worth it.
Another option still higher miles.

IF you take care of your car, the mileage doesn't really matter. This guy has a 1990 Accord, coming up on 1 million miles.
Autotrader has these long as hell links but I was messing around on there and saw a corvette that only needs minor work and that is for the luxury of the owner. I know a radio and speakers costs about 3-400 (not an audiophile just want a radio). How much does an air conditioning compressor and a driver seat run for? That's true for the engine but it's the rest of the components which suffer; suspension, electronics, bodywork etc. You could have a car with a healthy engine but the shell will be old and worn which soon racks up maintenance costs. Not only that but it's fair to assume a few horses have escaped the engine over the years too.
Get a Saturn and make all the JDM kiddies cry.
Why would you ever get a Saturn? It's like GMs bastard child that wasn't as cheap as Geo.

Or as efficient. Or as cute and small. Or as reliable. Or as easy to maintain.
I forget why Saturn is good at all.
Wait... It isn't.
I hate to say "Get a Honda", but really they do last forever. Mitsubishi is also nice but expensive and hard to find, little more costly to maintain. Toyota is good, but overpriced and bland.
A nice Subaru Impreza sedan would be great and a little sporty, you could look into those.
Volvo 850

I've made my point.
I don't like Japanese cars either. I just hate Saturn, they literally have no good aspects.
I like japanese cars when they are from the 80's and back

I HATE saturn, my aunt bought like 3 of them, all complete shit. My vote for the honda civic/accord.

re-posting my car buyig advice from another thread:
1. Never ever let the salesperson take over your shopping experience when you’re buying expensive items, or when the store offers a certain discount. You must control the bargaining process. So when you’re looking to buy something, have a good idea about what it is you want.
2. Know that the posted price for a big ticket item can be brought down — whether it’s a car, a big TV, a computer, furniture, or a house that you intend to purchase. This is especially the case now, in these difficult times.
3. Never ever let them know that you really want something. Give the impression that you’re just browsing, looking, and not really interested in buying anything.
4. Force yourself to leave if the merchant doesn’t give you a lower price. As you walk toward the doors, 9 times out of 10 they will chase you down to offer a better price.
5. Remember, you are the client, you have money in your checking account which the seller desperately wants. If they work on a commission (most of the time they are), they would rather sacrifice half of their take to make the sale. You have the power.
Some people have told me that they simply don’t have the courage to haggle, and that they feel embarrassed to try it. Embarrassed, shmarrassed! It’s your hard earned money; why should you give it away? It’s a win-win situation: they make a sale and you get a discount. Nothing wrong with that.
Edited:
For dealers wait until the end of the month or financial quarter, the end of the quarter is coming up (June 30th) this is the prime time to buy because dealers are trying to reach their bonus quotas. (if they sell a certain amount they get a bonus pay raise) So they will do anything to sell. Try to get a super low quote from another dealer and bring that paper to them, then they will either lower their price or match it and give you extra shit. You can also negotiate paper prices (the bullshit paper work add-ons that they use to add a few hundred dollars on like paper fees and shit). Claim that another place has lower fees or something because each dealer has them. So yeah, if it comes to it, pretend to walk out, also mention if you are paying in cash, they SALIVATE for that and you can use it as a reason to get extra shit or a lower price. Also, presentation matters, dont go in a shit hoodie and sweat pants the richer you look the more power and attention you have. As always be aggressive and assertive, dont budge. You can get that car for a little under the invoice price which i can look up real quick. Good luck.

Retoasting these
I do like toyota even if they are bland. They hold their value so well and will last forever. I am in a tacoma right now and it cant get more bland than this. I have thought about a camry or corolla but the only problem is those hold their value just as well as any other toyota. I will look into Honda. For some reason I really dont like the look of volvo cars.
I'm with you on Volvo, I don't really enjoy the looks.
As far as Honda, you really can't go wrong with anything. They're probably not as safe as competitors, but they're better on fuel than the car they are competing with most of the time, and generally cheaper too. Also quite easy to repair.
nissannissannissannissannissan
Get yourself a Honda Accord, they're just built to last forever from what I've seen. I see tons of the early 90s model all over the place. Parts aren't scarce, but you probably wouldn't have to worry too much about that.

Perhaps I'm wrong, But wasn't saturn intended to be the type of vehicle posted with a lower sticker price, kind of a "no-negotiation" deal.
I don't remember, could be right on that. It's been a while, nowadays they are the same as any other GM. Except that they are shut down as of last year.
