Seeing how the MGS1 generation are mostly independent adults now, it kinda makes sense
Kind of sad seeing Hayter jump up for any opperunity to be Snake again.

Or maybe just likes the character a lot and enjoys doing the voice of him.

Say your mom kicks you out the house and starts calling someone else Son, he is given all your belongings and now everyone has to pretend he is you. You know, just to freshen up the household.
Flawed comparison? perhaps, can't fit every hand with a single glove...but Hayter IS Snake/Big Boss.
Out of acknowledgement, enthusiasm or spite he wants to get his stuff/place back... and he's not wrong.
They decided he would get to be the voice of Big Boss instead of someone else and then they tried to overwrite him as if, pun intended, "over a decade of living and dying together" could be easily forgotten by the fans.
You don't do that, and amidst the shit storm of bad decisions Konami has taken, getting this guy slowly back into his element is a step forward.
commercials like this is why im glad mgs is dead holy shit
