Israeli and Palestinian negotiators will aim to reach a "final status" agreement in the next nine months to end their long conflict, the US secretary of state has said.
John Kerry said another meeting between the two sides would be held in either Israel or the Palestinian territories the next two weeks.
This, he said, would begin the process of formal negotiations.
Mr Kerry said "all issues" would be on the table for negotiation.
That's an interesting proposition, but it should be understood that any peace agreement can't just be to maintain the status quo. Israel has to do something about the West Bank settlements.
Final peace? The final part is making me raise my eyebrows.
This is one time I hope its a premature birth
