Hello I just tried a webcam i have been meaning to try for ages and got round to doing it earlier, i found the install disk in one of my folders and installed the drivers for it, and it works fine etc, (theres no yellow ! next to any of my usb ports / driver in Device Manager) And when i Unplug it while my PC is on i get a hardware failure, blue screen, and have to restart my PC? Is this fixable?
Just.. Don't unplug while the PC is on? Maybe try newer drivers? Also, it's not BIOS, it's BSoD
Ok, yeh i mean i aint using it for anything at the minute, just it's a weird glitch, i also don't think the company who made the webcam is around any more, its a SiPix StylecamSnap Just searched google and apparently they stopped supporting these webcams / cameras a while ago, ah well.
Get a new one then.
Actually, if you see a blue screen like that, the BIOS might actually play a part in the error. But it depends on what the screen looks like. Is it a memory dump screen, or the more common type?
A memory dump It like does something with it then a message that goes along the lines of "We have done something to your computer to stop it from damaging other hardware, please contact your computer administator or restart your PC to reboot into XP" Underneath
Ok, if it's doing a memory dump like that, a BIOS upgrade could actually fix it. I had a problem with my GPU locking up my computer, and upgrading my BIOS fixed it completely. I don't expect this to be a solve-all solution, but it's wroth a shot. You need to know what type of motherboard you have in order to update the BIOS. Do you have this information handy?

Not updating BIOS, just found someone said to try increasing your "Page File" cache higher and i have so i will see if that fix's it
