I was planning on learning Morse code to pass some FCC test just for the hell of it, but then I started thinking of the advantages. Not only can you talk to someone thousands of miles away with a 9 volt battery and an antenna, but you can secretly talk to people.
Imagine, you are taking a test. Your friend is across the room, and you are stuck on problem 4. You tap your pencil lightly to say "Question number 4? Question number 4?" You wait a few seconds. Then you here light tapping from across the room. You decipher it and it is the letter B repeating.
Little things like that would be neat. My friend was telling me about this horror movie where this guy kidnapped people and killed them with cameras showing it all on a website, and the more viewers there were, the faster the victim would die. Well some FBI guy got kidnapped, and he was cemented or something and he was blinking Morse code with his eyes saying where he was and things he saw.
Morse code is pretty awesome. Here is a site that can translate sentances and words into Morse code: http://morsecode.scphillips.com/jtranslator.html

Beating the level in penumbra. Very useful.
Protip : Movies ain't like real life.
Morse code is still in use for communicating via ham radio (there are voice systems now, but a lot of people still use Morse code).
You'd probably end up getting some letters confused and give your friend a totally wrong answer.

Tapping pencils doesn't really work with morse code; you need a continuous signal, otherwise you can't tell the difference between "dah"s and pauses; everything is just a "dit"
K is awesome!
-.-

Yeah, it's really hard to tell the pauses so you need the continuous BEEP

It can work somewhat, but yes there can be big confusions with lots of letters.
the only morse code i know is ...---...

Maybe just make little beeps with your mouth
It maybe suspicious, but no one would know what you guys are talking about.

I think they'd take you to the mental hospital if you sat in class beeping all day.
rig up a device that uses that mosquito frequency
Your use of morse code is so artistic.

You could say that like the eraser end of the pencil are the "dah"s and the tip are the "dit"s.
Just a suggestion.

Then you would constantly be flipping your pencil
It's a good way to get on the wire, and tell them how to bring those sons of bitches down.

I think that was an episode of Criminal Minds.
instead of tapping a pencil, use the very high pitched frequency that only kids are supposed to hear, everyone will get pissed off but you'll get your answers.
What do the slashes ( / ) in Morse Code mean?

Pause between words.
You should learn PoW tap code. It's easier to learn and can send messages faster. Prisoners of War used it to communicate to each other when they couldn't speak.

No, Actually it's from a recent movie, Untraceable

Trying it out right now, for anyone interested, this is what tap code looks like:
