fucking enable modding, maybe then I'll feel like playing the game. Right now the damage is absolute trash, all it would take is a damage realism mod for me to hop back into the game and stay on it

It is clear that CoH could do away with the forced arcade mechanisms that few people enjoy. I fail to see how it would even be enjoyable pitting T-34's against Panthers and see them exchanging direct hits at one another barely doing any damage. I wouldn't complain if they made the arcade aspect of the game enjoyable, but they haven't. It's tedious and monotonous, arcade for the sake of arcade, forced systems of balance with forced pre-set damage values. Of course every game must have balance, but the real challenge and beauty is making it balanced in a clever, intricate way that doesn't appear so on the surface. A balance system that promotes a wide range of strategies, that don't just boil down to tank spamming.
Because it's a strategy game and there's nothing strategic about taking your Panther and Attack Moving in any direction and watching it single handedly wipe up the Soviet Army with no effort whatsoever on your part. This is like complaining about damage scaling in Call of Duty when you're really looking for Red Orchestra.
Sending a panther alone in Blitzkrieg would get it quickly taken out with tank busters and heavy AT guns. Where as in vanilla it would take far longer because there is only one AT gun per faction that does standard pre-set damage to any vehicle regardless of it being a Bren or a Sherman. Realism promotes a more fun, and diverse gameplay. There is no need for hardcore realism, just a somewhat realistic damage system at the very least.

And tanks blowing up in one shot isn't very realistic either. A system where a massive amount of damage is dealt with one shot isn't realistic. A system that is based of off whether it disables the engine, main gun or destroys the tracks or whatever is realistic. Basically if you want a realistic system the entire health thing should be removed and it should just be based on critical hits and crew members being killed.
I dunno why you guys don't seem to like vanilla CoH all that much, sure it's not as realistic but it's still really fun nonetheless and even still much more realistic than a lot of other RTS titles out on the market today (but I really do enjoy Blitzkrieg mod but damn is it hard)
I have an easier time as Allies in Blitzkrieg when I CO-OP against AI. Maybe it's because fighting AI in CoH1/Blitzkrieg is basically a Turtle-Fest and then rush with your stockpiles of tanks and artillery.

Anyone else psyched for this? Personally I think it'd be pretty cool to play Americans v. Russians
