One of the original "Marlboro men" died in Wyoming earlier this week. Darrell Winfield of Riverton, Wyo., died at home on Monday, Jan. 12, according to Davis Funeral Home, the AP reports. The 85-year-old was born on July 30, 1929, in Oklahoma, and later moved to Wyoming in the 1960's with his family, according to his obituary. He was discovered by the Leo Burnett Advertising Agency when he worked on Quarter Circle 5 Ranch in western Wyoming. Winfield's obituary says, "He loved horses, rodeo, especially team roping, ranching, and the cowboy way of life." The "Marlboro Man" was almost a caricature of masculinity. The rugged cowboys were used in magazine and television advertisements from the 1950s to late 1990s in an effort to make filtered cigarettes more appealing to men.
we smoke marlboro, you smoke cock
Nothing wrong with a bit of cock every now and then. Don't knock it until you've tried it as the saying goes.
As much as smoking is a bad habit, Marlboro's marketing team absolutely nailed it and made some iconic ads.
As much as smoking is a bad habit, Marlboro's marketing team absolutely nailed it and made some iconic ads.
Even 20 years later smoking is still seen a sign or rebellion, really shows how much the companies have dug themselves into pop culture.
As much as smoking is a bad habit, Marlboro's marketing team absolutely nailed it and made some iconic ads.
Going from a filtered cigarette targeted specifically towards women to the most iconically and stereotypically manly man thing to smoke was a pretty impressive branding turnaround
Yeah, but they're not the biggest fags.
you ever tried black superkings? as in the brand name, not the size; the one in the black and gold packet. hits your head like a sledgehammer, prolly best smokes for when you're drinking but otherwise a pack lasts ages just cuz you ain't gonna need another smoke for a while after.
