So THIS is what Icefrog is working on!
A leading person in the making of DOTA joined Valve and created a DOTA game with them? DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING
A leading person in the making of DOTA joined Valve and created a DOTA game with them? DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING
This is more shocking then when the creators of Narbacular Drop were hired by Valve to create Portal!
Knowing Valve, they always have a way to turn their games out to be good/sucessful. I hope I am not wrong :ohdear:
I'll eventually buy it because it's Valve.
I'ts only cuz HoN got just got released
A lot of people are saying they're disappointed. What did you expect? I'm not disappointed, because a DOTA game was exactly what I expected, and is exactly what was announced. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not excited about this either.

I hoped Episode Three. After this long, any big announcement that isn't Episode Three saddens me.
I believe when it comes time for Valve to say something about Episode 3, it won't come from a standard press release. I'm expecting another ARG.
I think some people don't understand that a remake (or a sequel, call it how ever you like) can be very different than the original. I mean - compare TFC (or TF) to TF2, they all have the same classes and basic weapons, but they are totally different games.
What was I thinking, hoping for Episode 3?
I'm blown away
It was stated that DotA2 will be a direct clone. Pretty much like CS:S was to CS 1.6.
As I said before, "Episode three?
Don't even know what the fuck Dota is or is supposed to stand for but Valve's making a sequel so ok [editline]13th October 2010[/editline] I like how the didn't even say what it stood for on the official announcment
Can't wait
A leading person in the making of DOTA joined Valve and created a DOTA game with them? DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING
I was thinking they were going to do some kind of rip off like HoN.
I was thinking they were going to do some kind of rip off like HoN.
HoN is a rip-off how? It's the exact same DotA just improved. Of course they can't use the same names, models, and such, because that would cause copyright issues. But it's the exact same characters with the same spells (although some spells are modified) and in the end it will have every original DotA character in it.
It has Dota for the name it'll sell. And I bet this an ingenius plan to draw some of the playerbase of blizzard and dota clones to the valve side. And it's at least another source upgrade. Just imagine blue tarps flowing to a blizzard in ep 3.
I wonder what Blizzard's thoughts on the matter are.
I wonder what Blizzard's thoughts on the matter are.
They are going to change a lot of things to avoid copyright issues.(not only with blizzard) Also I hope they don't make this on Source.(because source games has no bugs at all amIright?)
This will probably be the first Valve Game I won't buy. Just not a fan of Warcraft or anything along those lines.
They are going to change a lot of things to avoid copyright issues.(not only with blizzard) Also I hope they don't make this on Source.(because source games has no bugs at all amIright?)
Article says it's on source.
This will probably be the first Valve Game I won't buy. Just not a fan of Warcraft or anything along those lines.
Well, it really has nothing to do with Warcraft, at all.
Well, it really has nothing to do with Warcraft, at all.
But it is still the same sort of game, with the whole Warcraftesq, RTS feel.
This will probably be the first Valve Game I won't buy. Just not a fan of Warcraft or anything along those lines.
DotA has absolutely nothing to do with Warcraft. It has as much to do with Warcraft as CS has to do with Half-Life.
But it is still the same sort of game, with the whole Warcraftesq, RTS feel.
No it doesn't. Unless you play it on Warcraft, because you are then using Warcraft models, Warcraft textures, Warcraft's engine and everything.
The only thing I'm afraid of is what wrecked DOTA for a lot of people in the first place, the community. Hopefully people won't be blatant assholes to new comers or this game will go down the shitter immediately.
