Well, after kicking my current PC for a whole 7 years, it's finally beginning to die, after countless upgrades and fixes, i reckon i should just let it die.
I've already purchased a case for this new PC, it's a Casecom KM 6788
Same case as this one (http://forums.ebuyer.com/showthread.php?p=926049) only with 3 fans and a front-panel SATA connection, and a PSU filter.
UPDATE: My (almost) final setup, Named "nerdgasm"

same case as listed, 620w PSU, Thoughts?
We need some sort of budget for the GPU, also you can plug the fans right into the PSU if they have molex plugs.
for the GPU, under $200 AUD, i could stretch it to $250 it it's critical.
Why don't you see if they will buy you the GPU instead, then you can get a nice i5 and they can buy you a 5870
How big are the differences between the I5 and I7? sounds like a good idea.
I would only get an i7 if you do things like rendering.
If you're just gaming, get an i5 750.
As for a GPU, I'd say an ATI Radeon 5770 will be good for gaming. I don't know how much it is over in Australia though.

What would be the Nvidia equivalent of a 5770?
If you're not going to do heavy rendering with applications like Maya, I suggest AMD for the price:performance. You can get a really good quad-core (or even a 6-core!) for a really good price, if you find the right seller. Then ask your parents to get you the GPU, I suggest 5850/5870.

Also a 620/650 W psu will run this just fine. Motherboards and CPU's take much less power nowadays.

Also, why would you like an nVidia card?
[editline]02:03PM[/editline]
Rate me bad reading, he uses socket 1156, which isn't for AMD CPU's. Nvm what I said about the AMD. Although if you'd want, you could change your mobo, and then get an AMD cpu for that.

The 5770 performs as good(very close) to GTX 260. Plus, its quiet, cool and uses very little power and much cheaper too. And its DX11 too.

Please not another fanboy :gonk:
Hes not a fanboy.
I was thinking of comparing the pair first, my brother claims that Nvidia cards are generally better, i think he's what you'd call a "fanboy"
Though i think i'll stick with the ATI, it's cheaper, and that's what counts in my build.
I have a feeling that my local computer part retailer's a bit biased, the ratio of ATI to Nvidia they stock is about 4:1
nVidia is generally better, but if you're willing to pay so much extra for 3 more fps then you're just stupid. The only reason to buy nVidia nowadays is for PhysX in certain games.

True, the only reason you'd want to pay extra for less performance, is for cuda and PhysX
I think all the current PSUs on the market come with molex connectors.
