• iPod Touch - Unuseable YouTube

I have a 2nd Gen iPod touch with all the updated hardware. Youube used to work really well, but then it turned shitty. It takes forever to buffer, freezes and takes about 5 mins to load a 30 second clip! My wifi is fine, not the best, but it's not bad looked all over the net and this is a common problem, however there is no solution! It pisses me off! Is there a fix for this, FP?
Is your iPod jailbroken? My youtube doesn't even work, it just says it can't connect, and im pretty sure it's because it is jailbroken. [editline]06:05PM[/editline] I have the 1st gen btw
No it's not jailbroken
why the fuck isn't it jailbroken then It's probably youtube's fault server-side or something, but since you're not jailbroken and therefore have nothing to lose I suggest you restore.
I don't want it to be.
I don't want it to be.
Why?
Why?
I don't need it jailbroken as apart from the slow YouTube it works fine. I don't want to mess it up and damage my iPod
I don't need it jailbroken as apart from the slow YouTube it works fine. I don't want to mess it up and damage my iPod
Oh God I'm not even going to point out what's wrong with all of this
Since youtube adopted its new layout there have been a lot of problems with it. I have been experiencing extremely choppy playback of HD videos where beforehand they worked fine. They'll get it fixed eventually, as always.
I don't want to mess it up and damage my iPod
It's impossible to brick/damage your iPod while jailbreaking, unless of course you through your iPod at a wall while jailbreaking. In the event that something serious goes wrong, the iPod will ALWAYS be able to boot in recovery mode. Which will enable you to restore/reinstall back to normal easily.

He ended up reinstalling windows. I still have no idea how he managed to screw up that hard, though.
Its his choice to jailbreak his iPod or not. Jesus Christ, why do people get so upset when other people don't want to jailbreak their iPod/iPhone?
Its his choice to jailbreak his iPod or not. Jesus Christ, why do people get so upset when other people don't want to jailbreak their iPod/iPhone?
Thank you. It's not necessary and not everyone wants it.
My first-gen touch is jailbroken, and I can watch Youtube videos just fine... :geno:
Thank you. It's not necessary and not everyone wants it.
Except it's a bit shit without a jailbreak, and to be honest, there's no reason why you wouldn't want to. There's literally no downsides. Come up with a plausible argument against jailbreaking and I'll relent.

I play apps on it and listen to music. I don't want different backgrounds or themes, I'd rather not get cracked apps, don't need videos downloaded to my iPod (It's only 8gb) and the only thing that interests me would be the emulator, but I already have one on the PC. It's all personal preference, if you want it jailbroken, fine. But don't have a go at me for not jalbreaking it, just because you have.

You'll stop getting on at him if he provides a reason for having a certain opinion that has no direct effect on you?
And we're talking about slow Youtube here, not jailbroken iPods
Regardless, it's probably youtube's fault server-side, as stated before. Their new (shitty) layout has fucked a lot of shit up.
It was bad before the layout change...
Well fuck I don't know, try restoring. As stated before, you haven't got much to lose.
