"The cars were disassembled and flown to Sochi in special containers, with chassis and other vehicle parts traveling in separate containers. The same flights, which brought the bodywork and car parts to the [former Winter] Olympic capital, also carried the television equipment that will be used to broadcast the race across the world," Basel Aero said in a statement. Three planes from the Japanese F1 city of Nagoya carrying race cars and equipment touched down earlier today at Sochi International Airport. Russian customs have run checks on the cargo using a mobile X-ray system and the expensive F1 gear was then sent to the brand-new racetrack at the former Winter Olympics venue. "The next batch of F1-designated cargo will be flown to Sochi on Tuesday. Three cargo planes Boeing 747-400Fs will bring the last batch of race cars and sports equipment from Japan, with a stop at Yemelyanovo International Airport [northwest of Krasnoyarsk]," Basel Aero also said. Russia's first ever Grand Prix will be held at the Sochi racetrack between October 10-12. The circuit is 5.852 km (3,636 miles) long and comprises 19 bends.
http://en.ria.ru/sports/20141007/193763585/First-Race-Cars-Arrive-in-Russias-Sochi-Ahead-of-Inaugural-F1.html
Honestly Russia does not deserve the tourism money that this race will pull in. I'll still watch it on TV, but really, we shouldn't be racing there given what they're doing.
In case someone have troubles trying to spot the track. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/3142.jpg[/t] [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/Socchi-Street-Circuit.jpg[/t] I'm a sucker for street circuits so hopefully I can watch this.
Been dreading this track for a while

Can't wait to watch another piece of shit Tilke circuit produce a pretty shitty race
Can't wait to watch another piece of shit Tilke circuit produce a pretty shitty race
Looks substantially better than the Circuit of the Americas. Shall see I guess. Still, Russia should not be having this race, but Bernie don't care.
Looks substantially better than the Circuit of the Americas. Shall see I guess. Still, Russia should not be having this race, but Bernie don't care.
That old shit only cares about money. He fucking ruins F1 with stupid decisions and useless regulations.
Can't wait to watch another piece of shit Tilke circuit produce a pretty shitty race
Newer tilke circuits are pretty cool. It's his older ones that make me want to curl up into a ball and cry.
That old shit only cares about money. He fucking ruins F1 with stupid decisions and useless regulations.
Politicizing a intl. event vs money
Looks substantially better than the Circuit of the Americas. Shall see I guess. Reminds me of Dubai's circuit, kinda.
Ah yes, the new circuit! Some of the challenges the pilots will face are broken ukranian dreams, a dangerous nationalist peak at the southern turn and some irregular militia precipitation. Go ferrari go!

Given how Sochi's facilities were in questionable state during the Olympics, I feel a bit worried that something might go horridly wrong. Especially in the wake of Jules Bianchi's incident at Suzuka.
this is actually the first time i wont be watching/keeping up with F1 since I was 11.
Don't be stupid.
For everyone saying not to involve politics- what? I would think a valid comparison would be attending the bake sale of someone who just shot your dog, excepting that Ukraine isn't necessarily our dog, mayhaps more our neighbors dog, and Russia claims it was endangering their children? Basically what I'm saying is, if you think Russia has done something wrong, you shouldn't ignore that just because they're trying to draw in tourism and have done something neat. It's the same as Facebook making some change and everyone screaming bloody murder, but continuing to use the service regardless. It just shows Facebook that they can do just about anything and face no real repercussions.
F1 doesn't give a shit aslong as the track is good and the teams like racing on it, F1 draws in crowds regardless of the political situation, and as stated, Bernie only cares about cash money
Don't be stupid.
Not wanting to support a country that invades others for BS reasons is stupid...?
F1 doesn't give a shit aslong as the track is good and the teams like racing on it, F1 draws in crowds regardless of the political situation, and as stated, Bernie only cares about cash money
this, unless its real extreme like bombs going off around the track F1 is a business, not an international political powerhouse
Not wanting to support a country that invades others for BS reasons is stupid...?
So I take it you will no longer attend Sports Events in the United States or Great Britain?
Not wanting to support a country that invades others for BS reasons is stupid...?
We mean if the sport is so important to you then punishing dem russkies shouldn't be that important to you. But it's not like F1 is going to directly fund Russia's supposed landgrabs or something. There are many people involved that have nothing to do with Russia being a bully to Ukraine, I don't see why they should loose their money. And in other words just enjoy the fucking race.
So I take it you will no longer attend Sports Events in the United States or Great Britain?
I dont really follow many sports, usually just F1, rally and when its on rallycross, which lets be honest, the US versions usually suck shit. NASCAR is terrible, and rally america is... Eh. And last I checked GB hasn't done anything too fucky for the past 75~ years. [editline]8th October 2014[/editline]
We mean if the sport is so important to you then punishing dem russkies shouldn't be that important to you.
I think not supporting a shitty country is more important than supporting something I like to watch. And in this day and age there are literally thousands of other things to do with my time. Like videogames.
The track looks pretty boring to be honest from what videos I've seen of it, but I'll watch the race, regardless of Russia's shitty reputation.
Not wanting to support a country that invades others for BS reasons is stupid...?
That's because you're thinking that you watching a race in that happens to be in russia means you support russia, and you think that you viewing the race has any consequence or meaning whatsoever, rather than just watching a race because it's a race. Putin isn't going to go to your house to recruit you to the russian army or something just because you watched an F1 race. You people care too much about shit like this. I'm angry about Russia's shit too, but why in the world does that mean I have to stop watching Russia dashcam videos? What does that accomplish besides feeding some deluded fantasy of being a freedom fighter just because you chose not to watch a thing that happens to be in Russia? Armchair activism is the worst. People seem to assume the 'boycotting' method works on everything. Which it doesn't.
You should totally care less about politics.
Oh man you should do stand up.
