I put off actually buying my parts till the Black Friday deals, and thankfully it's paid off big time :] About 100 dollars less actually.
This is what I am going to buy I think...
Case:

PSU:

Mobo:

Ram/CPU Combo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.286426
Keep in mind I will be buying the GPUs later.
One question though, can anyone offer some proof that a V8 will fit the i5? I was going to get the Scythe Mugen 2, but I think it's too big for the ram modules to fit. If anyone could clear either of these issues up it would be appreciated.
Scythe Mugen:

V8:

I would really like to make this buy by the end of the weekend.
Looks good.
Mobo is good, And has funky looking cooling fins.
What GPU are you going to put on it?
The CPU socket does look like it is very close to the ram but the scythe should fit.

Yup yup...
Can anyone find results showing that the V8 does better than the Scythe, or vice versa? I would like to see a variety of results if possible, from a few sources.

C3 processors have been reported not to work with EVO motherboards.
The 965 is a C3 processor. That's an EVO motherboard.
Get THIS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.295699
Please do tell what is better about the AMD quads?
I have heard all this talk of the i5s being the best for the mid range budget atm?

A decent motherboard for an i5 will run you higher than for an AMD, the i5 costs (slightly) more than the AMD, and nobody knows about the upgradeability of 1156 sockets to i9's or other future Intel processors, while it's confirmed that the AM3 and AM2+ sockets WILL work for AMD's future Hexa- and Octo- cores coming out next year.
AMD is a better investment because of the lack of information on the sockets for i5's, and possibly even i7's.
Will the V8 fit the AMD?

Ok, been doing some fiddling... This is where I am at.
CASE: [$130]
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119122
MOBO: [$85]
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131402R
PSU: [$139]

RAM/CPU COMBO: [$255]
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.280113
Total so far with taxes/shipping.
$666.58
Everything look good so far?
I HIGHLY recommend AGAINST getting an open box motherboard. Other than that, good.
What's your total budget and what GPU are you getting?
Edit:
Go with this instead:

My budget isn't fixed, I just have to buy these core parts by the end of the weekend. I will buy the GPU separately at a later time, I plan on getting dual GPUs, hence the 850w PSU. I have not decided upon which GPU to get though.
I have never had bad experience with an open box item :P So I trust them...

Alright, if that's how you want to go. With that case, PSU, and mobo, you could go as far as crossfired 5970's I bet.
Nvm, you are totally right XD I fiddled a bit more and got it for 4 dollars less.
[editline]04:21AM[/editline]
Do you think that Corsair RAM is better than the OCZ? Because the OCZ has better timings.

Less voltage for the same speed; I don't think timing is as significant in performance as the speed, but I could be wrong.
What's voltage have to do with the speed?

Is this ram worth the $20 more?

no dual card system needs that much, hell double 5870s are around 560
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006&cm_re=corsair_750W-_-17-139-006-_-Product, I'd say go with the 650W but that doesn't have 4x PCI-Es
I keep hearing conflicting reports about PSU requirements... Some say 850 is enough for anything, some say it's enough for anything until highend crossfire cards come into the picture.. :/

OCZ RAM hasn't got a very good reputation (quick reference: newegg user rating - inconclusive, but gives you an idea). G.Skill on the other hand, does.
Lower/higher voltage does not affect speed directly, but rather the frequency that the RAM will run at. Choosing RAM with a low voltage for its designated frequency is a good idea, especially if you are overclocking.
Having read that, I am sure you'll agree that this is the RAM to get: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231259&cm_re=2_x_2gb_ddr3-_-20-231-259-_-Product

You have a mutual hate for OCZ, they're not a shit brand they have quite a good reputation. A few posts earlier you were saying about how Newegg user ratings mean nothing and now you're saying they give a decent indication? Good work.
The newegg user rating is terrible on those two particular RAM kits -that is a decent indication that they are not good, no? I don't have a hate for OCZ - the very idea that anyone 'hates' a brand is just stupid. On another note, do you not think the G.Skill kit I posted is superior to the aforementioned OCZ ones?
Their reputation varies, but generally it isn't favourable so far as their RAM and PSUs go.
Good work starting a pointless argument in this guy's thread.
The RAM sold out, any other suggestions before the next brand sells out as well XD?
Got it all put together today :D
