Oh cool! I could never get into Secret World because of the absolute nightmare that is its combat, but I was always intrigued by its world and design. Gonna keep a close eye on this.

The combat really is the awful part. I don't think there is ever a point that weapons feel like they deal much damage. As Ross Scott (guy who made Freeman's Mind) said the enemies are like, "aggressive tree stumps I had to hack apart slowly." And they created this massive network of abilities but many are virtually identical both between weapons and even within. And the ones that are vaguely effective are on incredibly long cooldowns. The investigation side is great, the world is gorgeous and interesting. The combat is atrocious and you may never see anything beyond the first zone. Also the Egypt area is awful. Deserts are shit game environments.
I guess all that effort to get QL10.9.5 equipment gone to waste then.
Hopefully AEGIS gets a rework cause that shit ain't fun.
i'm very excited for this. i loved the secret world. if they can modernize the combat i'd be down to play again.
imo the worst part about the game however were both the stealth sections and platforming sections. no mmo engine can do either of these right. hope these get reworked. dracula's castle was an absolute nightmare and i ended up spending a lot of time just exploiting the shit out of it to complete it out of frustration. although they may have updated these sections since i last played them (early in the game's life)
I, sadly, could never get past the desert. Could never find an ability set that let me take care of all the enemies without nearly dying every encounter.

this is where i learned that certain ability sets were there solely for pvp or co-op and i chose all of those. when it split us up for certain story missions i was stuck against hordes of enemies with a support leech AR build. the best way to get through the game the first time is with AoE or learning about crit chain lightning with pistols/blood magic. but swords were always easy mode.
Out of everything in the game I hope they don't drop the ability wheel. I love the freeform leveling.
