For the past few days I have been having hallucinations right before I get into bed, at first I thought it might be something to do with the painkillers I used to take, the constant pain in my arm, or my depression. But I decided to come to facepunch for help. These hallucinations involve me about to get into bed, when I instinctively turn around, and a man with a black jumper, camo jeans and a black balaclava is pointing a gun at my head, he then shoots me. And then I'm back where I was standing before. This has happened six times now. All I'm looking for is suggestions to what this may be.
its a vision
robbers are coming to your house soon
Doctor Facepunch.
you're going to die
A phsycological phenomenon/Lucid dreaming.
Its normal and most people usually experience it at least once in a lifetime.

Take a shitload of Tylenol PM. Then you'll have awesome hallucinations :smug:
Sleep paralysis without the sleeping or the paralysis
You're going to die
It's called Hypnogogia Hallucination.
They're hallucinations that occur during the boundary between being awake and falling asleep.
They can range anywhere from hearing small sounds, to feeling things, to even seeing monsters or demons choking you.
But don't worry, it's completely normal.
There's also Hypnogogic Hallucinations, but that's when you're waking up, instead of falling asleep.
I have these hallucinations some times when I am asleep too. Help! :downs:

Even if this post is serious or not, it's not anything you need help with.
Anyone who see's or hear things before they fall asleep are completely normal.

That's exactly what I thought when this started, but sometimes when it happens I'm not even sleepy. It's getting very tiresome being shot in the head every time I want to go to bed.
Hypnagogic imagery. It's totally normal, it's your brain's way of shutting down before you go into REM cycles. It's kind of like residual signals from the day from your ears/eyes.
See, when you go to sleep, you go through sleep stages. 1, 2, 3, 4, and REM. Hypnagogic happens around 2, which is when your brain turns off your consciousness to let it rest while the subconscious just hums along in the background. Theoretically you should already have been asleep before that happened, biologically.
But hell, since you're not asleep when that happens, try to turn it into a lucid dream. Check my Megathread, it's got a lot of advice and such.
Generally if I'm falling asleep somewhere it'd be a generally bad idea to fall asleep at such as underwater (taking a bath), in class, whatever I'll hear a voice, generally my dad's saying my name loudly as if he was trying to wake me up. It startles me awake, alright.

Only thing I could tell you do to is to ignore the hallucinations, and not be afraid of them.
I don't think there's an 100% method to making them go away, unless you want to tell your parents that you're seeing things and then see a psychologist and take pills.
That's interesting, I've been having lucid dreams before I fall asleep where I stand in front of some dude's bed holding a gun and shooting him in the head.
I get this a lot, mostly when I am really tired, and I use it to gauge how close I am to sleep. Usually it starts off normal, and gets weirder and weirder, and the weirder it is, the closer I know I am to sleep. I can sort of do it on command, but not 100%
We do have a sleep and dreams thread, you know.
Also, sleep hallucinations are normal but most people don't experience vivid ones commonly so they don't remember them at all. If you keep a journal then it's really easy to recall.
Have you been smoking Crack?
If you stop doing it might help.
Trust me i'm a Doctor.

That part about hearing small sounds is EXACTLY what happens to me. Sometimes when I'm tired, I'll hear a sudden BANG. It will be really loud, right in my ears, but at the same time, completely silent. It's like an imagined sound, but someone else imagined it for me. It doesn't make me jump, but it really concerns me at the time. Makes me feel a bit weird thinking about it. Brr.
Cut off your dick.
I hate it when your falling asleep and you start subconsciously thinking random thoughts, then suddenly for no reason whatsoever you just flinch or spasm like you got a shock. I am sure theres a medical term for it.
Edit: Myoclonic jerks. Thats what they are called.

Yep, beat me to it though. A lot of people call is sleep paralysis. I usually don't have any visions on the rare occasion it happens but I feel pressure and hear some distorted ass sounds. Don't worry, seems to happen during adolescence to a lot of boys. My dad had them and called 'em "witch's rides" because of the way you sometimes feel someone sitting on you. They can happen between ages like 10-20 but mine went away by the time I was 13.
OP has PTSD, perhaps he's having 'Nam flashbacks.

That's called exploding head syndrome and it's quite problematic for many who have it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head_syndrome
Sleep paralysis is when your brain wakes up but you don't have motor functions yet, so you can see and hear but you can't move. It's quite terrifying actually, and happens to me a bit too often. I get afraid I might asphyxiate myself or remain paralyzed.
